Title: iMac ATX converter. Where to buy!?!? CD-ROM IDE adaptor?
Post by: AmiXDel on January 10, 2005, 10:16:34 AM
As stated before, I am in the process of re-casing my old iMac, but would rather not use the old crappy and LARGE power supply. I have read that you can use a standard PC ATX power pack, but an adaptor needs to be built first.
I'm not sure this is something I know how to do correctly, and therefore do not want to attempt it. So what I'd like to know is if there is a place that sells these, or anyone that builds them for re-sell?

Lastly, Apple screwed us by making it's CD-ROM plug into a special IDE plug... is there an adaptor that one can buy so they can hook up a normal CD-ROM?

No one? I find that hard to believe. Man if only Mac had not flawed there hardware and just used normal IDE plugs and power packs. :(

You could ask your local Apple dealer.

THankx, this guide looks like something I may be able to follow. Perhaps I should start making these and selling them myself.
