Guys
I have a stock A500 and I was thinking about adding an Ad-IDE expanion. I have a 10GB IBM TravelStar 2.5 IDE Drive. Will this drive be able to work with this setup. What is the maximum drive space I can "see" with the AdIDE Hardware and Software.

Thanks

I'd guess 4GB..
I'm running mine with a 1GB drive and it works fine.

Looks like 2.1G is the max. (from the search)

Well remember though - you can upgrade to a later OS revision and break the 4gb limit...

@bootdisk
The limit is probably a limit of the hardware itself, not an OS/FS limitation.

yea I dont think it the OS.. I could never get it to go beyond 2.1 gigs.

Is this 2.1GB HD limit per partition on per Physical Drive Space?
-
If I remember correctly.. the ADIDE interface is a "single" connection PIO mode only.. which means ONE drive, as master. Thats it.. not the normal master/slave dual setup as per a normal IDE channel.
I'm having trouble with the ICD partition software working under kickstart 1.3 even with only relatively small 170meg HD.
I beleive the limit of 2.1gigabytes of storage space is the ADIDE and not AmigaOS

The AdIDE2 manual states it can support up to two IDE drives. Even in OS3.1, 2.1GB is the max recognized per drive. Remember, there weren't many laptop drives pushing multiple GBs when this board was designed and 2GB is more than enough ANYONE needs on an A500.
