Title: Just a thought, about Phase5 PowerPC Cards..
Post by: Robert17 on December 12, 2004, 05:43:42 PM
Hey all, I was just wondering, why did they use 604e only for A3K/A4K amigas and 603e only for the A1200?

Also what's the performance difference between the two?

My guess is they used the 604e for big-box to get more performance, and used the 603 line for the 1200 because the 604 may not have been able to keep cool enough in the small 1200 case.

Hmm I don't know.. the cooler on my csppc 604e 200mhz is smaller than the one that was on my bppc 603e 240mhz.. Maybe it was because they wanted to have one "cheap" product and one "pro" product for the more professional big box amigas or something..

@rayt

The fan cooling on the CSPPC was far more effective than it is for the BPPC, which is partially why the BPPC uses a larger heatsink.
