Title: Bots or Humans?
Post by: lurkist on December 10, 2004, 07:11:12 PM
When reviewing Web Reports, is there any easy way to distinguish between bots and humans? e.g. Google Crawler is obviously a bot, but others are not so obvious.  I am getting 600 hits a week, but i suspect a large percentage of those are bots.

Hum,
i give no quarter to quake bots.

Apart from changing your counter or hiding WebPages from bot, you could try setting up a hidden link that humans can’t see
i.e. a small button that the same as the background hidden in the corner.
So that you know, only stupid bots would look there...

(Assuming that you can count individual page hits)

That's easy to do, humans have compassion the other ones don't.
