Title: Germany
Post by: orange on December 03, 2004, 10:23:56 AM
I'd like to buy a zorro ethernet card in Germany. The problem is that I don't speak German. Where can I post the advert? Are there any Amiga shops there that sell them?
Could someone translate this for me (to German): "I'm buying Zorro ethernet card Ariadne, X-Surf or other"

BTW, does one need to be registered when buying on ebay? (I've never used ebay before)

Well there`s always babelfish, I bought an A4000, and two A2000s,on ebay.de.  All actions where done with babelfish.  Although I`ve been in Germany for ten years, I`m not as good with it as I should be.

most germans understand english, so that it´s no problem contacting them in this language.
vesalia and kdh are sellers of the desired hardware.

It is true, Germans do tend to be quite good at English (its compulsory at school??).

Anyway, to place a wanted ad would be something like:
Ich suche Zorro Netzwerkkart Ariadne, X-Surf, etc

Ich suche (present simple, 'I am looking for') I suppose this would translate literally as 'I search'
'oder' is German for 'or'
'other' is 'andere' (?) like Dutch I think...

Perhaps a German speaker can correct this, I only learned a small amount of German while I was in Berlin for five days and I don't know the grammar well yet.
I know the word 'netzwerkkart' from ebay :-D

On a side note, I hope to have German lessons soon :-)

Ad style would be : SUCHE Netzwerkkarte XSurf, Ariadne, etc.
(which is "looking for NIC XSurf, ...")
OR : Netzwerkkarte (XSurf, Ariadne, etc.) gesucht

seems you don´t really need german lessons anymore, since you seem to be used to the language :-)

Individual Computers dont sell X-Surf themselves, only to dealers, and its 90e at vesalia :-( .
I still hope some German might have used one for sale..  :-)

The best place to search for a second hand NIC from Germany would be the classifieds ("Kleinanzeigen") in our forum:

http://www.amiga-news.de/forum

Create an account and post a thread with a title like that:

"S: [the item(s) you want to buy]"

("S:" stands for "Suche:", English equivalent would be "WTB:" or sth. like that).

A NIC should be no problem - as long as you're living in Germany ;-) If people are willing to trade with you probably depends on your location - we have the occasional dutch or czech guy trying to make a deal and they usually succeed.

I agree with cgutjahr,

go to amiga-news.de and create an account, that should be simple; if need be do it with babelfish.

Then you can even post in english, folks will understand you.

Good luck,
McTrinsic
