Hello,
I intend to purchase a four-way ide adapter for my A1200. Do I absolutely need idefix97 software with it or is there a piece of software included in os3.5 or os3.9 that will do the job ?

When I was going to install OS3.9, I created an emergency disk and the IdeFIX software was transferred to it. When I later installed OS3.9 it didnt detect my CD automatically, so I installed IdeFIX and everything worked. Don“t really know if OS3.9 has something built-in, but I do know that the IdeFIX package wont damage anything... :-)

OS3.9 does not have support for 4way adapters, so you still need IDEfix.
However, OS3.9 now has support for ATAPI drives, so to just run a CD-ROM drive (without 4way adapter) you no longer need IDEfix.
Bye,
Thomas

Doesn't OS 3.9 ask (during installation) "do you use a 4 way interface?". I use an IDE 4 way interface by Eyetch.

IIRC during the Emergency-disk creation, AOS3.9 install, asks "do you use a 4 way interface?" if you answer YES, it will copy your IdeFix program onto the Emergrncy disk.
AFAIK, theres no IdeFix bundled with AOS3.9.
