Title: DeadA4000
Post by: DaBest on November 28, 2004, 05:50:03 PM
Hi all....
I purchased 2 new 2meg chipram for my A4000. They look odd. The 4 center chips are horizontal instead of vertical. The 2 chips I got from Software Hut do not look at all like the old one that I have. After installing them, I am still getting a continious "Grey then a Green screen" during the startup.

Does the new chipram need to be initialised first???

I tried holding the 2 mouse button on statrup and I still get the same grey and green screen. I do have power that goes to the hard drive, cd rom but no power to the internal or external disk dirves ie....no clicking.

I was using a picasso card but the sys does not show me a screen at all so I plugged in my 2002 monitor in the back of the motherboard. I cant remember if I had to change any jumpers for video to use the picasso card.

I tried this with an 030 and an 040 plugged in with the proper set up on the motherboard. ie jumper settings.

All other cards pulled out.

I also tried with a 4meg ram chip with the new  2 meg chipram.

The only thing I havent tried so far is a HAMMER

Maybe I am beating a dead horse and this 4000 is really dead.

Thanks

@DaBest:

As I notice you have a homebuilt tower, are all the motherboards screwholes connected to ground?
