I am going to replace my VOB 4x IDE adaptor with an Elbox PowerFlyer 1200, but I was wondering how can I keep my hd data... Currently I have 3 partitions: 1st is 2GB, 2nd and 3rd are 8GB (20GB HD), but I have read that the Elbox needs to divide this space to 4GB partitions... How can I keep the data on my 2 8GB partitions? I need about 5GB of them... would winuae help, if I plugged the HD on my winXP pc? :-?

Well, read again... The elbox controller has an option to divide a disk into multiple 4G LUNs (yes, a division at scsi.device level, NOT at partition level!)
If enabled, the whole primary master drive would show up under scsi.device unit 0 and at unit 10 @ a 4G offset and at unit 20 @ 8G offset, etc. For ye olde softwaer, that can't look beyond 4G...
Even if the split option is enabled, you don't need to repartition the drive!
And: Don't EVER plug an amiga partitioned drive on a WinXP PC. It will see the RDB as a corrupted MBR, and will attempt to 'fix' that, destroying your partition data![/u]
RDB=Ridgid Disk Block, amiga's partition info. MBR=Master Boot Record, the Redmond imitation

correct, if you dont select the split option, the powerflyer will see the drive as a normal size drive of 20, 40 or 80 etc gig, if u already have partitions on a 20gig drive workbench will just treat them as normal partitions
-
You even don't need to unselect split mode. If the drive is already partitioned, split mode is disabled automatically.

ah good, so I just plug my HD :-D
do you think I should re-install os3.9 because I will use a 1260 accel? and what about idefix? does powerflyer need it?

Dont see any reason to do that. Just make sure you have the correct libraries on your libs drawer.
Then, re-install those programs that have a separate 060 library (I think genesis is one of those).

There is no need to reinstall anything.
The PowerFlyer aka FastATA comes with its own drivers. IDEfix is of no use for it.
If you didn't use a 060 before, you should install the new libs *before* you put the accelerator in. Because if you try to run the original 68040.library on a 060, SetPatch will crash with a yellow screen.
You might also want to move the CD0 file from Devs/Dosdrivers to Storage/Dosdrivers before you disassemble your Computer, because the unit number of your CD-ROM drive might change, so you need to edit the file.
