Title: Whats in a Hostname?
Post by: Lo on February 16, 2003, 07:17:46 PM
My demo-miamidx works, but I always have to wait for it to try to resolve my "hostname" first.  ThenI get the message: "Your IP address could not be resolved so Miami Deluxe has to fall back to your IP address as your host name.  Either your ISP does not support reverse mapping of the SLIP/PPP ports or there is a problem with the DNS servers."   Then I can go online.  I thought I fixed this once with an earlier version of Miami, but not now.  I am using a HP PC/Amithlon/Cable modem with DHCP.  When I had win98, winipcfg said my hostname was HPPAV.myisp.com so  *confused*

Don't set your hostname to dynamic.

Interfaces -> Interface definition of your eth0 (or whatever) -> TCP/IP settings - set Get dyanamic host name priority to 0.

@KennyR

I went there but the priority is ghosted and set to 10, maybe a demo limitation.
