Title: CD Filesystem stuff n00b
Post by: Tahoe on November 22, 2004, 08:46:59 PM
Haven't really played around with CD-Rom drives in the old days, except for PARnetting a CDTV...

However i now have this nice shiny Pioneer slot-in CD-rom drive hooked on to my Blizzard. All is fine so far. Modified the CD0 dosdriver and everything works fine. :-D
However! I hate the disc showing itself as a Floppy on WB. Fine, lets play around with the def_Icon. Eh, what gives? No def icon in 3.1....
Okay, take a nice icon, snapshot it and burn it on the disk as disk.info.
Insert the disk.... Floppy icon!

To make a long story short, is there a filesystem which doesn't use this crappy M$ 8.3 filename stuff? I don't want my disk.info showing itself as disk.inf !!!  :-o

The Commodore CDFS *should* support Amiga filename lengths. Could be a problem with the way you burned the CD. Try again with different ISO9660 settings.

Alternatively, try AmiCDFS on Aminet, or BabelCDFS at http://babel.org/amiga/

Wow! I did do it wrong! Burned it in 31char mode (or something rather) and it works!

Thanx mate! You made my day!
