Title: Lord of the Rings Trilogy DVD editions. Can anyone answer a Q?
Post by: Cyberus on November 22, 2004, 12:28:06 AM
Basically, I wanted to get the 4 disc extended editions of each of the films. Not the ones with the Gollum DVDs, the gollum statues, etc. Just the extended version with the extra footage

Like this:
http://play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=101939 (http://play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=101939)

Now, I heard that there was going to be a boxed set of the trilogy, but not with these extended versions. Just the normal versions. But now I've seen this:
http://play.com/play247.asp?pa=stcs7&page=title&r=R2&title=490271#tech (http://play.com/play247.asp?pa=stcs7&page=title&r=R2&title=490271#tech)

Now am I right in thinking this is the fat 12 disc set I was led into believing was not going to be released?

Next question I have for you guys - where are good (cheap!) online places to buy DVDs?
I've seen Choices Direct and Play.com - any others?

All the best,
Someone who is starting to discover films in a big way :-)

The extremely fat version (12 discs) is indeed the boxed set of every disc that's in the Extended Versions.  You'll get them cheaper than buying them all seperately and you get them in one box instead of 3.

I've ordered a good bit of DVD's and CDs from Play.com and they're fantastic.  If they're in stock they arrive within a day or two, a lot cheaper than most other places and I've never had a problem.
