Howdy!
I once saw a web page which explained how to connect 2 amiga joysticks to the PC gameport...
Are there any other ways to do this (not thru the gameport, but usb, or parallel ?) so they will work with WinUAE?
-
Yep, that's perfectly possible. You can either buy a converter (such as this (http://www.atariage.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=267) or this (http://www.techsupportcomics.com/review.htm#intro) one) or you can hack (http://www.funet.fi/pub/cbm/documents/projects/other/usb-joystick.html) your own old USB gamepad (which seems alot more fun and cheaper than the purpose built converters).
-
The Catweasel has joystick ports as well AFAIK
-
However the Catweasel is apparently severely lacking in software support. I remember reading something that almost nothing worked under Win NT deratives (perhaps I'm wrong, actually I hope I'm wrong).

Will that USB gamepad hack work with two controllers? The site says something about problems with two joysticks..

No idea, I found that page after some quick googling. Perhaps there are better DIY-project available, you might find better hacks if you google a bit.

i'm googling my arse off here :P thanks anyway :)
Also found this:
http://www.geocities.com/deonvdw/Docs/PPJoyMain.htm
It states that this will work with the parallel adapter (which is also used for 3rd and 4th joy support on the Amiga)...
Anyone has expierience with this one?

From that link:
I have decided to stop PPJoy development.
Why? Firstly I can no longer afford to spend the many hours and days it takes to develop PPJoy and maintain the documentation.
Secondly, people on the Internet today seem to be an ungrateful bunch. I have received about 5 postcards and 4 donations. And thank-you emails have been few and far between... Hardly worth the effort I put into PPJoy! Instead I get emails mindlessly asking questions already answered in the manual.
Will there be a next version of PPJoy? I don't know. Probably not any time soon. And if there is a new version is will no longer be free. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish.
That is so sad, but so true I guess :-(
Oh, by the way, I'm selling one of those parallel port joystick adaptors on ebay :-D:

Yes, i'm using PPJoy with WinUAE and it works perfectly!
The closest to the real thing in playing AMIGA games :-)
In the WinUAE configuration, on the Input tab, don't forget to select the paralel joystick (it is displayed has LPT1:Amiga 4 Player Joystick 1 if using the parallel port 1)
Select also Configuration #1 (for example) instead of Compatibility mode.
The Game and I/O Ports tab is not of any use.
BTW: Unfortunably, I was on the the many who didn't drop a line thanking the author :-(
Oops

@ptek
And both joysticks work 100% ?

Gimme gimme gimme :)

One more thing...
About the parallel adapter...
Googled around and found two different wiring schemes:
http://www.hardwarebook.net/adapter/userinput/amiga4joysticks.html
http://www.tgpd.fsnet.co.uk/tutorials/hardware/thecrypthardware/4-player.html
Pin 18 and 19 (on parallel port) are switched, which one should i use?
Damn internet... way too much info :)
-
stupid me...
pins 18 and 19 are both GND...
nevermind :)
