Hello Amigans! :-)
I am interested in getting back to the Amiga. Heh, it's been along time since Messing and setting up an Amiga the way I had it. So here is my quetions.
1.How complete is AROS?
**I want to be able to run the AmigaOS and a few apps such as Amicomsys, YAM, AIM, etc...
2.How fast is it?
**What are the comparison speeds to WinUAE?
3.Can you use AROS and have full 16bit sound support through AHI?
**Hey, i would like 16bit sound through the Amiga emulation when playing mp3s.
So why would I want to emulate the Amiga when I could easily just use Windows XP? Though im only 18yr old guy, XP lacks that classic computing feeling that I got on the Amiga.
Any information would be useful. Thanks alot guys. Appreciate it. :-)

I think you'll be stuck with UAE for running classic apps. That is unless UAE can be/will be integrated into AROS.
AROS is not an emulator, but a reimplimentation of AmigaOS and its APIs. Programs have to be recompiled to run under AROS due to the under lying hardware architecture difference.
It's basically the same for Amiga OS 4.0 and Morphos. The only reason they can run classic apps is their integrated classic emulation.
Check out : www.aros.org (http://www.aros.org)
aros-exec.org would also be a good site to look at. Though I can't seem to get there at the moment.

@Argo
Thanks for clearing up things and for the link....
Yea, WinUAE might be my only option for now. Classic games would be something to do, but I would probably get a real Amiga if I ever do classic games. :-)

Hey kd7ota, why not just download AROS and gie it ago... I recommend trying AROS-Max, but that is a large download... you can try the floppy version which is under 2meg.

The lack of TCP/IP and the sound in UAE is exactly whats holding back AROS at the moment. :-P
Still atleast we got sound in native AROS, so mp3-playing is possible, but no internet yet.

I just tried the iso cd image of aros on x86 and it looks pretty promising.

Aros can run classic games with amibridge just fine, at least in my experience...
UAE integration is almost working and soon classic programs will be running just fine, really seamlessly in an aros window. Soon you won't even notice any difference between a native aros program and an amiga classic program running in an aros window.
Its going to be sweet once sound and a joystick is working, which I hope should be soon. - Personally I can't wait to play star control in an aros window...
Besides uae integration, DOSBOX also works nicely under aros, so your every retro game dream machine is almost here.
