Title: Amiga HD & UAE
Post by: crazyBongo on November 17, 2004, 02:20:10 PM
Hi Everyone,

I'm having some problems with getting UAE to see my amiga hard drive.  I'm running winXP and the latest winUEA version - but when I try to 'add a harddrive' it presents me with a blank list.

The HD shows up in bios, and in windows Device manager, but no where else..

I'm also running a suse linux 8 system - I've heard this can read the amiga FFS, but being the complete linux novice I am, I haven't figured this one out yet - it regocnised the drive when I first booted up, but I don't konw how to mount it or navigate to it - If indeed that is what I'm supposed to do?

any help would be appreciated - i shall continue googlin'

You need to 'create a harddrive' in WINUae, choose this option and the size you need and where you wanna place it then re-set the 'amiga', should see the HD sitting there in WB next to df0, you'll need to format it then.  I struggled with this for ages since there are no really well written instructions for WinUAE that I could fine...

For linux, open up the CLI window and use the 'mount' command.  Make sure you get the syntax right.  You can try browsing with Konqueror setting the path to  /  but I do not know if it will work with an Amiga volume or not.

you might want to try looking here (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Amiga_WinUAE/) for advice on WinUAE.  (Note if you join Yahoo groups they will use net beacons to track your browsing preferences.  See their privacy policy for details.)  I seem to recall some discussion on this group.
