I am having some problems transferring files over my network between my pc and my A1200..
Yesterday I connected my PCMCIA network card ( Repotec RP-1625 ) to my 1200. At first I was curious whether it would work at all, but to my joy everything worked without a hitch, and soon I was surfing the web, thanks to Genesis and Aweb in OS3.9.
I installed Samba and after many tiny little changes I managed to get everything working.. Nearly..
Here´s what i CAN do:
Ping the Amiga from my pc and vice versa.
Connect to shares on my pc from my Amiga and vice versa.
Browse shares on my pc from my Amiga and vice versa.
But I simply can´t transfer any files from the pc to the Amiga.. The transfer starts, but after a few seconds the Amiga hangs without any error messages or anything.. Just stops in mid-air, so to speak...
Anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

So there´s no-one that can help me with this? Perhaps it was too hard... :-)

does the amiga freeze or is it just samba that stops responding? doesn't samba create a log?

I have experienced somewhat the same problems. I have installed Samba aswell, but haven't been able to get as far as you. I can ping my PC from my Amiga and the other way around, but that's about it.
I use SMBFS found on www.amigasamba.org to access my PC drives from my Amiga. I can only mount one device, but since I keep most of the stuff on D: it doesn't matter that much :-) If I transfer large files, I often have to reset and start again. My computer also just stops, in fact I don't even think the file transfer starts.
Sometimes it helps to rename the files, so the filename isn't larger than 30 character + 3 characters in the extension (.zip, .rar, .jpg etc) Also don't allow the screen saver to kick in, as this sometimes blocks my file transfer, but I think it's because of this {bleep}ty Acer laptop.
I don't think the above has any real value, but maybe it will help you out.

The computer hangs, literally... I cant move the mouse, and sometimes I have to Ctrl+A+A two times before it resets... :-)
I tried SMBFS aswell, but exactly the same problem arises, the transfer starts, but the Amiga hangs after a few seconds...
The files I´m trying to transfer are Amiga files, downloaded from BTTR, so I don´t think would be the problem?
