Title: Micronik A-1200 Bus Board.
Post by: Linchpin on November 12, 2004, 04:13:42 PM
OK. What i have is This. (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/micro1200busboard.html)

Now here comes the questions :-)

I have been given the board, but i dont have the little adaptor thing. Anyone got one to donate? :-D

This board has "non active" PCI slots. Are they useless?

Cheers

Kev

Also, anyone know of any Network cards that will work in the ISA slots on this board?

Thanks

Kev

According to a distant memory in my mind it seems that you can use ica network cards if you have got also a bridgeboard installed, but then you don“t need to run the bridgeboard, just download a specific program from Aminet ...
And no, you can not use pci cards with that board ... was probably planned but never really done .. shame ...

Thanks for the reply's!

No, i was given the busboard for free of a mate of mine.

Shame, that the PCI ports are not even connected to anything. :-(

And the network card, well thats bad also!

Seems i dont have a lot of use for this, unless i can get the adaptor and a Picasso GFX card. Shame, cos this looks like a really well built card (big for a card, but still!)

Micronik said that the PCI slots could be activated by a bridgeboard. Whether this was a normal Amiga bridgeboard, or a propriatary one that Micronik never released, I don't know.

Only way to find out is to throw a bridgeboard in there! :-)

I thought as much. A bridgeboard, that connects from one of the working "slots" over to one of the PCI slots, thus making the other "PCI" slot active i guess. From looking at the board, I can see that the only connections going to the 2 PCI slots, are basically linking them together.

Anyone got any more help, or even a spare connector :-D , please please let me know.

Im trying to replace my mediator... its a sad sad story.

Matt_H : hold on a sec dude, do you mean that if you have this pci busboard that you can mount a bridgeboard (486 for example) and use the pci slots for pci pc cards like a Voodoo5 5500 ???

@ Effy

Er... maybe? There are no Amiga drivers, though. Are the Prometheus drivers open source? They could probably be adapted if that's the case.

There's a Micronik A1200 tower in the club with that bussboard and a GoldenGate2 bridgeboard to activate the ISA slots and an ISA ethernet card connected. Only drivers I found for the GG2 card was Ethernet, IO, IDE and a special Soundcard... wish there was some graphic drivers also for it but havn't found any.

The PCI slot's I'm afraid are useless. Need a noneexisting bridgeboard for them to be active... I guess the best use you can get from them is one of these "PC on a PCI card" and thus having both a PC and an Amiga in the tower.

Man that sux.

Oh well, maybe the hunt for that adaptor piece is not worth the effort.
