I'm trying to install OS3.9 on my A4000D with Cyberstorm 060. I also have an CV64/3D but that one i'm waiting to install till i get it to run with the AGA first, however it is installed in the zorro-slot.
I have completed the install of the OS3.9.:-D
The system reboots after the setpatch has run for the first time after a cold-boot and nothing happens. The only thing i get is an black screen no drive clicks, but the keyboard responds.:-? The only thing I can do at this point is to turn it off/on.
What's wrong? Do I need to do something special with the Cyberstorm? maybe load the ROMs to fastmem with cyberkick?
Any ideas will be great. :-D

I don't think you should do something to the CyberStorm board, because the computer boots in the first place. There is no need to load ROM to fastmem if you have Kickstart3.1 chips in the machine.
Have you tried resetting the computer after it resets the first time? Try to hold down both mousebuttons to enter the early boot menu and boot without startup-sequence and try to run the startup-sequence from there, maybe it will tell you something. Have you installed the libs needed by the CyberStorm board?
-EDIT-
Denmark rocks! :-)
-
I think that i have the most current libs for the 060.
I have tried to hold down both mouse buttons and wait for the early boot menu to be shown, but that never happens. A warm rest (ctrl+lamiga+ramiga) dosen't do anything, it's dead. only off/on works.
-
Hmm,
have you just recently installed the CyberStorm CPU card? Maybe it's a matter of jumper settings (INT OR EXT).
What if you on power up boot from the emergency disk, is it still the same? Black screen and nothing else?
-
The computer works fine when i'm using the OS3.1 it boots and the CV64/3D screen works and so on, happy happy joy joy.
But when i install the OS3.9 and the setpatch is run then it reboots and nothing happens.
The INT/EXT clocksignal jumper is set to EXT (as I recall) anyway it is set so the cyberstorm MKII char supplies the clocksignal.

AmigaOS 3.9 installation tips (http://www.gregdonner.org/os39faq/installtips.html) from AmigaOS 3.9 FAQ (http://www.gregdonner.org/os39faq/os39faq.html).

there is no related help to find there 8-)

I remember my OS3.9 install going into a reboot loop after installation of BB2, but after disabling scsi.device update it booted right into Workbench.
It sounds very odd that there is no problems with OS3.1 but when you install OS3.9 it won't run; SetPatch shouldn't be able to lock the computer up as it does at your place. Try to edit your startup-sequence and go to the SetPatch line to somethign like this
SetPatch SKIPROMUPDATES QUIET
If it helps there is clearly a problem with one of the modules in the ROM update. It's a long shot but worth a try.
-
thx! i'll try that when i get home from work.

okey I've tried the setpatch skipromupdates quiet, with the same result. reset then black screen and no drive clicks.
Does anybody have an idea to what the problem is?

The system reboots after the setpatch has run for the first time after a cold-boot and nothing happens
I have the same problem with OS3.9 installed freshly from the CD. However, for me it is only a problem when the computer is resetted by a program (e.g. the installer or SetPatch). The system boots as it should when resetted by Ctrl-A-A. With installation of BoingBag1 the problem disappears.

You have to switch off the computer to remove the buggy ROM update from memory. Also the correct keyword is NOROMUPDATE. The option SKIPROMUPDATES needs the name of a module to skip as a parameter (e.g. SKIPROMUPDATES "scsi.device").
As I told before, if it is the same problem as I had, you don't need to do either (neither switch off the computer nor add something to SetPatch), just install Boingbag1. And Boingbag2 if you like.
Bye,
Thomas

Sounds promising, the first thing when i get home from work is to install boing bag 1 :-)
