Im considering getting hold of Amiga Forever 6.0 CD edition from the www.amigaforever.com shopping site.
Any info about how their customer service is? How long does it take from ordering the product to actually reciving it?`
I live in Norway btw.
-
I know what's coming next.....
-
@Cyberus ;-)
@Niding: Amiga Forever 6 CD is in stock here- we are one of Cloanto's official distributors. It takes about 4 days to get to you in Norway by Royal Mail International Signed For. I've found Cloantos customer service to be good, the AF6 CD is certainly a polished product.

Thanks!
I just bought AmigaForever 6.0 off your site :)
So the clock is ticking!
Does this CD contain all the Includes i need for ASM coding?
If not, could you supply a link?
-
As an aside, I saw someone selling AF 6.0 on ebay for 4.99 GBP.
I emailed them and asked 'Is this the full version, including serial?'. To which they replied, 'Yes'.
DYOR, but I can't but think they're lying...
-
Hey thanks for buying from AmigaKit.com! Its all packed up now and ready to ship tomorrow morning.
Looking through Cloanto's AF6 CD I cannot see the official Amiga Includes. I think you have to buy the Amiga 3.9 SDK CD for those.
-
@Cyberus
At 4.99 I think I better renegotiate the costs prices with Cloanto ;-)
-
@amigakit
This guy selling on ebay has to be pirating right?
I mean, how else could he sell so cheaply?
Unless you're getting a huge markup (joke!).
I'll dig up an item number for you guys
edit: #8144924026, and there's another, just view seller's other items
-
Sounds like a pirate at that price or an individual that wants to sell his original in a mad giveaway deal!
If its a company, the official resellers are listed at http://www.amigaforever.com/shop/resellers/
I'll try the ebay item no and have a look at it. Maybe worth letting Michael from Cloanto know.
-
Just had a look at this item- it seems very dodgy - selling 8 items at 4.99 each?!?
No way can a reseller do that- it is just harming legit dealers.
@cyberus: thanks for bring it to my attention- Ive emailed Cloanto

Okie Dokie.
I got the OS 3.5 CD. What OS comes with AF6?
And can I use 3.9 and or 4.0? (i havent been paying attention to anything Amiga related for many years)
What CPU can WinUAE/AF6 emulate? 030/040/060?
-
Amiga OS 1.3 and OS 3.9 comes with AF6
AF6 can emulate a 68040 and 68020+FPU at a very fast rate! It can emulate OCS,ECS,AGA and you can use upto OS 3.9 but not OS 4.0 as it only exists for PPC machines.
-
Thanks!
I just recived Amiga Forever 6 in the mail and installed it without delay. DAMN what an improvement! Soundquality much better too now (had a scratchy sound before).
The window icon management is much better too, something thats worth all the money i spent in its own right.
The previous OS's was a "pain" in the ass windows-managmentwise when you had gotten used to the fairly friendly ....PC enviroment ... :-o
Cool, very very cool!

@amigakit: Do you have any first hand knowledge on how to transfer a HDF to AF6.
If they are downloaded in windows , i have no luck in transferring them into HardFile on the Amiga -side ... I have downloaded the file(s) and then opened them with WINRAR and then what ?? When I try to find them , they alway load into AF6 as HD3? which of course not correct....Any good advice. Also have tried to get Ibrowse to work in AF6 , but no luck .

Hum,
you do make it hard on your self.
Take a leisurely trip here (http://www.classicamiga.com/emuhelp.htm) to have some tiptop advice...
(with handy pictures!)
(Better than i could give)
:-)
-
providing i do get a HDF per the instructions ... is it ready to download applications on it ? such as ...the one in my mailbox?
diamond
-
Ahh,
i see what your doing....
you are trying to put a full HDF into another Empty HDF...
(Thats like putting a floppy inside a floppy disk)
No need to do that. (er, it`s impossible anyway)
but you can copy files, to and from, two separate disks...
The HDF file just goes into a windows folder that contains AF6.
Then change your AF6 settings so that it boots from HDF.
You can then use that HDF just like a real hard drive to put in, or delete, your documents and files.
-
I don't have any HDF except the one that I download and then extracted in WinRAR. and it is now in Amiga Folder.
But when I ask for a HDF, it also comes out as a Amigafolder/Emulation/HDF.............and then in WinUEA is creates a DH3 ......sound familiar ? No matter what Amiga file it goes into ....when i go to create a path ... the whole path comes up instead of just {System HDF} and then becomes the DH3 .....

-
Strange,
Where did DH3 come from?
(You must have created a new empty hard disk, called DH3 - no, you must load one thats already there - system.HDF)
Forget about DH3...
In the AF6 settings you went into the Hard Drives section, then you pressed the button marked Add Hardfile...A new window appears, at the top where it says path, press the button at the side...A requestor window appears...look for a file called System.HDF..click on file, press open ...you perhaps saw something like :C:\workbench\Amiga folder\System.HDF , click OK
Then press start...
If nothing happens after that, then it`s time to read that weblink ...
good luck...
-
have tried all of the above ? ............ one thing does bother me . why is it that I have used the Task Manager to close almost every program ... the message is : program not responding ... a bug perhaps ... maybe i should re-install XP , and use a better anti virus .... using Avast anti-virus currently ...
diamond
-
Are you using the latest version of WinUAE from the WinUAE webstite (http://www.winuae.net/)?
-
i not sure . ill check ...ty
diamond
-
Sorry Blobrana: .. no luck there either . still comes up DH3???????.. i think im trying to do 2 different things here ? I found a Wineua that opened and it mounted the WBXXrar...........but its gone now ? what gives?
by the way I think the AF6 is crashing my XP? ...somehow Trojan Horses are getting in ..Im using Avast and AVG ...but the little devils still get in ??
diamond
-
Blobrana;
finally a ray of sunlight has hit me ...since the rom, etc are already in AF6 , i don't need a copy of OS3.1 FLOPPIES? right ..... and now all i have to do is follow the instruction UNTIL I have a workable HDF, formatted and then download that infamous file that i lust over ??? right ....

-
Hum,
can you get a neighbour to help you?
i have no idea what you are doing wrong.
it is usually really simple to set up AF6, so long as you know how to access the settings (F12) AND SETUP A PATH to the HDF.
It may be the computer/XP that is corrupt.
for a test have you tried creating a new HDF that involves pressing another button (under New Hard File) called create, (call it dh4:)...
make the size about 100Mb...
Did that work?
A last resort is to rename the HDF (dh3:) to DH0:
(HOWEVER, make sure that dh3: has an operating system (os3.1/3.9) in it....)
If that doesn`t work reinstall AF6 (again) And begin again from fresh...
-
In AF6 settings,
highlight the path, to system.hdf (is that hd3:) then press
`properties`,
in the box that says devices, change to to dh0:
-
yes all of the above happened including 100MB?...well its all hindsight now ...somehow it all fell into place ...now there is a icon on the WB screen that says HDF....and I also forgot why i was doing all of this ? was it about that download ?? if so .... what's the next step .. im afraid to look at the screen sideways ...it all may go away ....
diamond
btw ..it came together on my birthday , late last night .... strange?
-
according to some posts ie: no brakes .... maybe XP with sp2 is the reason that AF6 can be difficult to mount ... i realized that when i reloaded XP ... and not downloading sp2 ............... so maybe sp2 doesn't like AF6 ...???? just a thought..
Diamond
-
Hum,
SP2 is compatable with AF.
---------------------------------
Better to have sp2 than a virus.
(er, though some may disagree)
-
After reading the latest issue of Totally Amiga , with their review of AF#6 ...many things have cleared up... Silly me , thinking i was going to have an amiga like a real one ..... I'm cured ... Time to order a A1G4 Amiga ...
thanks for all the help , you all have been wonderful people ...

Umm, I'm sorry if I have revived a "dead thread" but I have a question I'd like to ask about Amiga Forever.
How does it function using Linux, does it function the same as using Windows?
How does the connection between the Amiga and the PC work when using Linux? Is it working at all?
I'm thankful for answers!
