Title: Postscript on the Amiga? How
Post by: TjLaZer on September 30, 2004, 01:03:28 AM
I just got a HP Laserjet 4 Plus and have it on my Home LAN. I can print to it on the PC fine, but I want to print on my 4000 setup OS 3.9.  At the moment I have it hooked up with a Parallel cable to get it working.  I can print text, but what about postscript?  How do I get that?  I have Pro Page 4 and when I try to print stuff it give me load of blank pages.  Any info?

Your printer needs to have postscript capability.
If you don't have a postscript cartridge it won't
do it. Try Ghostscript. This will translate postscript
files into something your HP printer can understand.

Ghostscript comes as a seperate disk with the TurboPrint 7.x package.
I haven't got the faintest idea how to get it to work, nor do I know
how to send it a file.

The requirements seem quite big though, something about 64mb to print
a 24-bit picture?

There's Ghostscript equivalents on Aminet but I think the TurboPrint
package is your best bet.

Mine is HPLaserJet4MPlus [with 10 MB Ram and PostScript module implemented] and all works fantastic and looks great when print from PageStream3 or 4 [www.grasshopperllc.com]. Also works fast when print in PostScript mode from FinalWriter97.
