Hi
Energetech (Australia) had announced new wave energy project (500KW) for 300 homes.
Can this new source of energy compete with other source of energy? Is it reliable?

I doubt it will ever compete with other sources, however, it seems like a viable complement.
I believe that many people will switch to locaL power sources in the future.
That will never be enough for industries, though, so things like this will probably be used to fill in the gaps.

Taylor says that his firm settled on Roosevelt Island?s east channel as the right place for a demonstration after an analysis of tidal reaches throughout North America, but also factored in the high cost of electricity in New York City, as well as the choked grid delivering power to the City. ?Since 9/11, security issues have also come into play,? he says, pointing out that distributed generation, using local systems, is less vulnerable to a disabling attack.
