Title: Replacement of Supra Amiga 500/Ram Clock battery Howto.

Any one here ever replaced this battery? This board has the round dime sized MnO2 3 Volt type that has clips sodered to the board, and to the battery itself.

Not sure I want to put a sodering iron directly to the battery and risk blowing the bloody thing up in my face, so should I just remove the clips from the board, and manufacture new ones?

Never seen or worked on one of those boards before, but if they use a similar battery to the A501, it'll be easy enough.
So long as you don't apply too much heat directly to the battery, it should be safe.  If the main body of the battery is getting hot to touch, then it's definately too hot.  It's normal for it to get a bit warm while soldering.

Here's a guide I've written on A4000D batteries, but the same theory applies to most Amiga real time clocks.

Sorry, I just realised what a "dime" is, a coin!   :whack:

I assume it's got two legs soldered into the PCB, so you can still use the information in the guide with regards to soldering.

Find the datasheet for the original battery and you should be able to find something with similar specs to replace it.
