geez...another one. Never sent the Amiga's I won. Said family problems or whatever, was going to refund money..never did.. So I filed a paypal complaint, only $2.14 was recovered.
-
Have you been able to phone the guy?
-
Did you pay by credit card?
The time I was seriosuly shafted on ebay, I paid by PayPal with a credit card. Paypal gave me their laugable £20 or whatever, and my CC company recovered the remaining 320 pounds.

I thought I was the only one that was getting ripped off with such regularity lately. Last 4 deals have yielded no product recieved, of which 1 can be attributed to Hurricanes, and may still show up, and at least the seller is responding and trying to help. Nothing from the others despite the paypal complaints, the phone calls, and the square trade farce....
Actually over the last 6 months, I have experienced great private transactions with a couple of amiga.org members. That in itself is risky as well with former members like Doomy scouring the web, but a lot of the long time members seem to quite honest and helpful. Being a part of a decent community such as amiga.org seems a little more re-assurring in regards to finding honest people to deal with.
As for eBay, if I don't recognise the seller as a well known member of this board, I don't even look at their items any more. It's too bad as a lot of honest Amiga sellers on eBay are getting smeared by few idiots, but despite the feedback, how do you tell if they are honest?
(Now that I let my little cat out of the bag I hope this board will not be swamped with frauds....) :-o

@ jjans
I agree. If the item is more than £30 I'll try to buy directly from someone here on the site. I've bought a card from one user and I've ordered RAM from another. Its a shame Boing Boss messed up the trust a little but I have a feeling most of the remaining people here are trustworthy. I'm still looking for a PIV, but nobody here wants to sell theirs....sigh
-
@X-ray:
Whats a PIV?
-
Now, now...
Try and contact the guy and work this thing out.
If he indeed has family problems he might just have shifted his priorities a bit.
I know from personal experience that family problems can turn you into a slow Ebay shipper... :-)

@ jjans
PIV = Picasso IV
-
I have also been shafted now and it looks like i have lost 24 pound . :-?
-
Well, no contact from the seller so I left him a few emails that let him know what I really thought of him. ~$40 down the drain.
so add this fsking deadbeat seller to your list:

Lawrence Perrin

His phone number is "being checked for trouble", according to their phone system. I found another Perrin up there by the name of Carl, so I'll call him to see if he's related.

I've been pretty lucky so far sending stuff to Amigans as well.
I've sent a boxed Action Reply 3 to someone here. Ok so thats not that expensive and the recipricant is well well known but the Chromakey, which was also in MINT, Boxed condition WAS expensive and went successfully to an "Unknown" (to me) in Australia.
I just recently (last week) had the ONLY local Amigan I know pop round my house and buy my Siamese cd & cable.
I guess I just been lucky.
btw. If that Aussie I sent that Chromakey to is reading this. I hope your Uni is getting good service from it !!
