Title: Amiga sighting in music video....
Post by: amigau on September 20, 2004, 11:09:33 PM
was watching VH1 'classics' on the JetBlue redeye to NYC last night, and saw an old Tom Petty video for the song "you're jammin' me" - to my surprise, there was an Amiga 1000 seen in there, getting paint (electronically) thrown on it, then they show the famous 'juggler' video for a second or two as well.

Pretty cool....I'd not be surprised if that whole video was done on an Amiga really, given all the weird fades and effects on it....

There's a shot of an Amiga (probably an A500) running the AMAS sampler software at the beginning of Paula Abdul's "Cold Hearted" video. . . . Anyone know if they actually used the AMAS for the samples in the song? I'm thinking they just liked the looks of the interface.

Yup seen it too. OT/ also, look for the first movie of Sandra Bullock, Bionic Showdown. It featured A1000 as the instrument used diagnose and did a presentation. Cool 8-)
Sorry it's not a music video.

Hello all!

In the search of Amiga's in famous productions, i present you the one of Paula Abdul (metioned by Trev)

Paula Abdul - Cold Hearted (snippet).mpg (http://members.chello.nl/~m.burgerhout/paula.abdul-cold.hearted-feat.amiga.1989.mpg)

"this better be good"

I've found Tom Petty too and i'll post it as soon I cut the snippet.

Greetings!

PS: The quality is baaaaad. This is the original quality how i found it, so i can't do anything about it.

Last week I was watching "Sledge Hammer" (1986/87 comedy series similar to "Police Squad") - season one final episode - and I saw an Amiga 1000 being used. "Dori Doreau" uses it to identify, then print off a picture of a girl in a bikini. The monitor is clearly a 1084 with the Amiga logo although the logo has been blurred.

I've never heard of this Amiga appearance being listed anywhere.

Haha, cool!  If you look closely there is also a SuperGen Genlock and an Amiga LIVE! by A Squared connected to the A500 on the left side!!!  Real Cool!!!!!! It also seems to be connected to a MIDI interface and that the music is really coming from the Amiga or the keyboard connected to it.

Hi all,

a lot of movies, has Amigas (visible and not), because they are quite easy to sync with the 24 Fps film rates shoooting.

Even in Miami Vice (very early episodes) i've seen A1000s in the headquarter.

All the monitors, shown in Lockness (the movie with Ted Danson) were synced/genlocked to 24 Fps using A2000 Zorro custom cards.

Ciao :-)

I saw the a500 in a pornographic movie.. The plot was around it being hooked up to a virtual reality device, and we all know what happened from there...  :-P
