Title: A4kT speaker LED
Post by: X-ray on September 19, 2004, 06:53:22 PM
This is probably an obvious tip for all you 'old hands' but I'll post it anyway for the less knowledgeable users such as myself ;)

If you have two SCSI controllers, or several devices, and want to keep track of drive activity on one controller (or device) without having to run the unit with the case open, why not make use of the speaker LED?
Just remove the speaker LED jumper frothe mobo (yellow and white wire - label can be seen when removed) and plug it into whatever card or device you are using. It is long enough to reach the back of the case. I can vouch that it works fine on my Cyberstorm MkII : attaches to the LED pins on the card. It was useful for differentiating the on-board SCSI access from the CybSCSI.
The 'turbo' button will still control internal speaker on/off but the 'turbo' LED (yellow) will now be your second device drive activity LED.

Just thought we may as well get some use out of an otherwise silly LED.

I have never thought of this.  I just wish my
4000T still worked to do this myself.  Thanks
for sharing this trick.
