Hello,
I have just baught a cyberstormppc 060/200mhz and want to try ppc app.
I started to try to use unrar.wos from rarlab.
I have just installed the cyberstormsysteminstall from dceco.de/download.html.
Place the unrar.wos command into c:
when I try to unrar a file I get an error "unable to allocate new stack size, unrar.wos failed returncode 20"
I dont know if all is good installed. I need help.
Thank you

Get WarpUP kernel. You most likely don't have it installed. It is necessary in order to run WarpUP PPC applications. Also make sure that the PowerUP kernel is not present, which was most likey inserted by default, if you used the DCE installation archive.
-
I am a new amiga user and dont know a lot.
What is the warpup kernel ?
Thank you very much.
Here is a list of what i have in libs:
powerpc.library
ppc.library
ppcdiss.library
warp.library
warpHW.library
Do I have to remove all except the 2 warp files ??
Ist unrar.wos filename.rar the good syntax to extract the rar archive ?
Thank you

I don't know why but it seems that i cannot get any ppc app. to run !
My config : A4000D+cybertormPPC 68060@50Mhz/200Mhz+cybervisionPPC+cgx V4.3beta RC5.
Wenn I received the ppc card, I first flash it with the "FlashUpdates-300399.lha" from dcecom so that I can see the early startup with my cybervisionppc.
I install the ppc witn "csppcsystemdisk.lha"
last, I install "WarpUP Release 4 for PowerPC"
My unrar.wos doesnt work.
What's going wrong.
Thanks to help me

Hi lolof
remove
ppc.library and
ppcdiss.library
and try again (afer a reboot)
Check also in Prefs:WarpOS that you have:
Termination Off
NoPatch
Video address E0000000
Bye
EDIT- you have mixed 2 different kernels so NOW, i don't know if the ppc.library that you have is the WarpOS one (emulation for use PowerUp programs) or the PowerUP one.
Anyway DELETE it
-
It's always the same.
It doesnt work.
I want to start the install from 0.
Can you tell me wich files and the order to install them to get the ppc to work.
And also the powerup emulation.
Thank you
-
only a question . . .have you checked that your PPC is working?
DELETE all the ppc library
powerpc.library
ppc.library
ppcdiss.library
warp.library
warpHW.library
and install ONLY the PowerUP one (forget the floppy bundled)
Copy ONLY the PowerUP
ppc.library and
ppcdiss.library in libs:
ftp://ftp.meanmachine.ch/pub/amiga/ppclib/ppc-user-09042000.lha (with Voyager or Aweb)
and try a PowerUp program like Benoit (check if it works in PPC mode) or another one (PowerUP)
If the PPC works . . . .
Let we know
-
OK, the PPC work, Benoit work with your Libs.
But the unrar.wos don't, with snoopdos I have an error powerpc.library.
This library is no in the LIBS:
Are this lib able to run app from the 2 system ?
What do I have to do to get unrar.wos to work ?

Get rid of all the ppc stuf you installed and search for the latest Amiga WarpOS release. Install that and all will be fine. There is a ppc.library emulation package included with it so yo can run all the available PPC applications.

Hi, lolof!
Maybe all the information was a bit confusing for you. I'll try to sort the important aspects for you: There are two software packages you could use to get your ppc processor accessible for applications: One is the "traditional" PowerUP system, the other one is called WarpOS. Not every application can use either of them and you should install only one of them on your machine. As Acill said, there's an emulation package (thanks to Frank Wille) for the PowerUP functions under WarpOS. It's called ppclibemu and you can find it here: ftp://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/util/libs/ppclibemu.lha
You should have WarpOS installed before using it.
If you have taken these steps, you should be able to run most of the PPC binaries. BUT: I've had several problems getting an unrar working myself. The only version that worked for me was the UnRAR 3.30 beta 3 from Eugene Roshal (which can be found on Aminet, too). You should find and try different versions if the first one doesn't work on your machine.
Good luck,
Scholle
