Title: The PPC Scam
Post by: JaXanim on September 17, 2004, 03:59:16 PM
@Those concerned

Today, I received a letter from The Hechingen District Solicitor regarding the Binder PPC scam. I've no real idea what it says. It's an electronically generated message, so I guess it's an acknowledgement of our case.

Please, would someone translate it for us, it's very important. (Umlauts are missing throughout, but I guess you'll know where)

Many thanks,

JaX

Staatanswaltschaft Hechingen

Aktenzeichen:  12 Js 5042/04

Ermittlungsverfahren gegen Bernd Binder wegen Betruges

Strafanzeige vom 05.05.2004

Sehr geehrter Herr - - - - - ,

What is basically says is that the authorities won't prosecute (von der Verfolgung habe ich [...] abgesehen.).

Reasons (that's Grunde in German):

The accused has to face a punishment/'action of improvement' and safeguard/punishment for another case.

Last bit is a bit unclear to me, seems as if the crime he's been condemned for is much worse than your accusation and as such it has no use to prosecute the PPC case.

It seems the guy is in jail or something for other much worse crimes :-?.

In other words, bad news for you guys  :-(.

Babelfish says:

Staatanswaltschaft Hechingen File

reference: 12 Js 5042/04 Preliminary investigation against Bernd binder because of fraud Charge of 05.05.2004

 Very honoured gentleman - - - - -,
 from pursuit I have with joining of 06.09.2004 in accordance with-ate § 154 Abs. 1 code of criminal procedure apart.

Reason: The accused one of has to expect a punishment/measure of the improvement and safeguard/punishment in the anhangigen procedure because of another act. The punishment/measure of the improvement and safeguard/punishment, which could be verhangt because of the indicated act, would presumably not fall beside it betrachtlich in the weight.

Rats... :-(
I'm glad from the moral standpoint that Bernd is in trouble with the law, but too bad that it looks like we are not getting any money back.
What should we do from this point?

p.s. Thanks for the translation Odin.

Well your basicly out of luck unless you can do something by the time he is out of jail or done with what ever the case is. By then it could be to late. One of the problems with crime, he may get busted but the people he did the crime against for other case get nothing. It appens here al lthe time when people win a legal battle and the criminal has nothing to pay them with.

I wish something could be done against DCE for basicly doing the same to us as he did to you, just in reverse.

Well, I guess the Fat Postman is about to clear his throat.

Sorry lads, I did my best. Next time we should follow the head and not the heart.

@65h34
@Jose

Oh shucks, you don't owe me anything! I just wish things had turned out better for us all.

Well at least we know Binder is in the sh-t with the Police and for something pretty bad it seems.

Can't imagine what it is, but the words 'anhangigen' and 'verhangt' appear in the letter....Hmmm...(No need for a translation anyone, let's just dwell on this, eh!)

Cheers,

JaX

Someone should raid his house and find as many PPC as possible (if any). We have nothing to lose!

Hehe. Why not raid DCE instead? I'm sure that we'd find more PPC cards there. ;-)

Y'know, lots of Amigans know where these DCE offices are.  Why not just go there with a list of the cards they've stolen, pound on the door, and demand the damned things?

I mean ultimately how hard can it be to fix the things or fab more?

I know if I paid the $500+ USD they cost and I sent it off to get fixed (to no avail) I'd be mega pissed.

This whole "Dellert" and "amiga.fr" seems to have been bogus as well.

And while we're on the subject, does anyone know of any prototypes of this thing:

http://www.amiga-hardware.com/amijoe1200.html

existing "in the wild"?
