Hey guys,
Over the weekend I spent some time with my Dad getting WinUAE set up on my PC and hooking up his old A1200's HD and my busted A4000's drive so we could recover the music he had written in Dr. T's and my old DPaintIV art and anims from when I was a kid. Anyway, I got the files I wanted transfered and even got a harddisk image set up pretty nice using some of the tools / commodities I used to run on my 4000 and Workbench is looking something like I once had it. The one thing I am lacking and its bugging the heck outta me is a tool to make it so windows can drag over the edge of the Workbench screen. Am I just mental and don't remember right, or is there something out there to do this on 3.1?
And as a side note....staying up until 4am Sunday morning working all night (and playing some Scorched Tanks with my best friend) reminded me how much fun my Amiga was and how much I really dislike Windows and Linux. Ah Good times.

hum,
sounds like PowerWindows (http://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/util/misc/PowerWindows.lha) (version1.1)
But check out this one PowerWindowsNG (http://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/util/misc/PowerWindowsNG.lha) (version 1.3)

Programs like that are hacks and can be quite buggy. Whatever the program was, I'd be quite careful because it might crash or cause memory leaks, etc.

Yeah I remember 'hacks' being kinda cool back in the days of 1.3 where they did a cool thing to your mouse pointer or something and when you hit reset it was gone (always off floppies)
Nowadays what can we do to improve the way we work when the classic OS isn't really being updated any further? (IMO 3.5+ are just a collection of these 'hacks' and other third party products)
I read somewhere that just using the multiple extensions in 1 program were the way to go? (eg MultiCX I think it's called - I'll have to get back to my Amiga to see what's running now...)
Then again, I'm from a Solaris/Linux background and the gist of most Unix tools is to have a lot of small tools that are very good at 1 thing.

Hehe...for a second there I thought Ima was replying to himself :lol:

Thanks blobrana, I will give them a look...
Nice...I very clearly remember reading the text on the Aminet about it with the ASCII art showing the effect now. ^_^ Thanks again!

No problem,
Though i must admit that i wouldn't use that hack...and that it`s probably nicer to just increase the screen size, so you have more room to see everything (make the screen scrollable)
@mrescher
hum, nice avatar...

OT:
WTF is happening with my avatar ?!?!?! :-o

OnTopix:
can anyone give me a quick summary of the state of workbench 'hacks'?
What I mean is, I used to use the ones that gave you a 32 colour cycling mouse cursor and such but then that was in the day when I booted off a single disc and had the wordprocessor (ProWrite anyone? :-)) in the second disc drive in my maxed out 1Mb A500 !

@blobrana

@ima...
He he - well if you put political icons on Amiga.org some perspective/reality check needs to be brought to bear.
