I have seen something about using amiga joysticks with one of those parallell-port adapters that was used for 4-players at amiga. That was for UAE don´t know if it works in windows/linux and unfortunately I don´t remmeber where I read about it.

Hi WarPiper.
If you are interested in hardware-hacks i could possibly help you with that issue. some years ago i attached 2 joystick-ports to my cherry-keyboard (that's of course possible for all brands...) - the idea is quite simple - use the joystick to "press a key" on the keyboard. All you have to do afterwards is to configure your emulator / game to use the keys. (i use a special uae/ccs64-configuration for that). trust me - it's quite easy - and great fun!
(if you don't believe me - just let me know i'll send you a photo ;) )
greets,
eCat

Try these links both allow you to use standard 9 pin joysticks and both work for uae i think.
PPJoy (http://www.geocities.com/deonvdw/Docs/PPJoyMain.htm)
and
DirectPad Pro (http://www.arcadecontrols.com/Mirrors/www.ziplabel.com/dpadpro/)
Update. I forgot i saw an article on slashdot (i think) that told of a site that you can get usb convertors for many types of joypads and joysticks, well its here at RetroZone (http://www.sealiecomputing.com/retrozone/)

There are covertors for digital joysticks to use the 15 pin analogue PC joystick port, though I doubt they enable all the buttons on CD32 pads.
There are some good joypads for PC too, my son uses a Gravis one thats the same layout as the original playstation pad, including the 4 shoulder buttons. I've got a couple, it has to be said the Microshaft Freestyle Pro is fun, where it has tilt sensors and you move it instead of using a D pad - probably the best thing they ever made, lol :-)

Here you go :-)
Joystick cable on EBay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=8142&item=5121724509&rd=1)

Have you tried Catweasel?
-
thanks guys, no I have not tried catweasel, and the digital to analog converters seem to be the only real way of getting this to work. I just wanted to play SNES games through a emulator on windows and linux, as my axispad (USB playstation wannabe) is not supported in Linux and puts around with the windows version of th emulator. Then I rememberd I still had that old CD32 competition pro joypad, and l=noticed that its configured alot like the SNES joypad and thought it ould b great to get that going, but sems like it may be more trouble than its worth.

You can get new PC (15 pin) versions of that top pad now, only they have 6 buttons. Retro Gamer magazine mentionned 'em a little while ago.
Oh yeah, and the early Gravis pads (circa '92 or so) were very similar too, only they didn't have shoulder buttons.
