Title: A600 keyboard broken?
Post by: mrescher on September 11, 2004, 03:41:59 AM
Hey all - I have a wierd problem with an A600 I just got on eBay.

The keys 1,3 and 7 don't work (and the lack of the keypad means I can't type these!) Anything I should look for to make these work? - tried taking the keys off and touching the membrane with a screwdriver - which works for the working keys...

Where to start with this one??

EDIT: Also, how to type these numbers any other way?

There might be some of the conductive stuff scraped off the keyboard ribbon membrane, caused by someone opening the A600 carelessly in the past. If its that, you can restore the ribbon by snipping a little of the ribbon off the scratched end with a pair of scissors. That worked for me.

@mrescher

You can get 2 Virtual Keyboards........maybe from Aminet. Basically a window pops up with all the keys on your keyboard and you just select what you want to type, and the program waits a few seconds (you can set it) till you click on the window where you want the text.

One is called Mouski.and the other is KeySim

I got themfrom one of the CU Amiga magazine CDROMS or Amiga Format CDROMS.cant remember which one.but I alo have it on my HD

Hi thanks for your responses - I just needed to type a 1 in to edit some tooltypes and ended up having to do it on my A4000.  I'll try the opening of the hardware later.

I am in Australia, why?
