It looks like minor leakage. The leaked acid most likely still hasn't started doing major damage, however don't quote me on this one, fellow bidders. :-)

Doesnt look to bad to me. Shame its a US A4000, i would have put in a bid :-(

I have 2 4000's that I repaired, they had very minor leakage and it killed traces! Apparently the 4000 is not forgiving at all. I would not bid on this 4000 unless you are prepared to do some soldering work.
On my 2000 and 3000 the leakage was pretty bad but it caused no damage and everything works fine.

How come there seem to be a lot of leaking batteries on A3000 and A4000s? It doesn't really seem such a problem on old PCs (I have motherboards from '91 and '93 with the same type), by how come amiga's

Hard to say. Ask for a close up of the battery area.
