I'm trying to get some sound when playing Genetic Species and I'm running into some trouble. I've installed the AHI drivers that are supplied with WinUAE and loaded up GS. When I enable sounds through Engine Settings->Audio Settings, I get the message "Unable to allocate audio mode. Close any audio tasks or reboot".
If I do a bit of SnoopDossing, I see that it fails when it tries to load "Dev:ahi.device"- but "ahi.device" isn't supplied by WinUAE.
So, what's the work around guys?

What version of AHI are you running?
I'll give it a go tonight (I havn't tried setting Genetic Species to AHI, but it hasn't given me any problems with the default Paula mode).

Well it's the version that is supplied with the latest WinUAE release- is there a way of telling?
Truth be told, I've never wondered into the world of AHI before; so I have no idea if I have done everything correctly.
So far, I have followed the supplied instructions:
Copy the file uae.audio to devs:ahi
Copy the file uae to devs:audiomodes
Any pushes in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Check out the Official AHI page (http://www.lysator.liu.se/~lcs/ahi.html) and try one of the versions on there.
The AHI with UAE could be a slightly cut down version.

Heh, I've sorted it now. I hadn't actually installed AHI (I thought it seemed too simple!). After downloading the latest package off the website- I installed it and ran GS. This time it asked what sound card I was using (Paula, UAE etc). I chose UAE and bingo: sounds aplently!
Thanks guys
