Are these becoming an endangered species with you lot?

What I'm wondering is, are 1985-1992 shielding methods sufficient to
protect against mobile phones, new police radio systems and UK Channel
5.
Also, is an Amiga emitting RF through the modulator even when the
socket is not being utilised?
I watched a documentary once on how the FBI read a maffia guy's
computer screen by tuning into the RF emitted from his monitor. Could
this be a security threat to Amigas but from the RF socket and not the
actual monitor?
:-o

Not at all. My A600 and A1200 still have all of their shielding. I haven't yet had a reason to remove it. (On my old A500 I had to remove the top half because the M-tec 020i would not fit otherwise).

Hum,
i `ve not had any problems with or without the RF shield, but i guess that it cuts down on the amount that the mobo emits ...
My tip is to house the entire computer in a faraday cage , to avoid those pesky FBI agents..

When I was doing my Masters project, I was performing leakage current measurements on Si x-ray detectors, for the ESA BepiColombo mission.
I went to see some colleagues at Imperial College, in Kensington, and they joked that the Faraday cage was all the more necessary there, since they had so many embassies in the vicinity... [go figure what they meant :-)]

Well, even though I've towered my A1200 I've still got the original case, RF shield and keyboard sitting in a cupboard somewhere :-D
-
But the tower case provides the shielding.

Most of the time the side panel is off my miggy's tower case. I've never had a problem without using some kind of RF shield.
Not so far anyway :-)
-
The shield for mine is in a drawer someplace. Haven't been using it though, I bought the 1200 back in the Eyetech/Escena AmigaOne plugs into an A1200 days waiting for the new machine to go with it. Mostly use my A4000T. Need to figure a place to put the 1200 so it can be used for games and demos...
-
It´s still there but I lost that little separate bit that covered the roms or around the ide-connector?
And some of screws is missing, they doesn´t seem to be needed anyway.
Thats the A1200, nothing missing on the A500.

Greetings,
@srg86
Yes they are! :-D That's why I keep a spare. Besides, even with RF sheilds, mobile emission would never affect the computer in general. It's just annoying... :-)
My mobo looks 'naked' without it anyway. :-D
