Title: AHX documentation/tutorial
Post by: anakirob on September 06, 2004, 12:01:01 AM
Does anyone know where I may find a manual or tutorial for AHX tracker?

I seem to know enough how it works, but documentation would help.

I still make music with my Amiga and AHX is one of my tools of choice :) However I never found a thing such as a Tutorial for it. What is it that it's giving you problems? Maybe I can help you.

I hope you have basic computer sound synthesis knowledge though. You can start with that if you don't.

Do i know about synthesis?

You should 'use the for horse, like' if you want the answer to that!

I was after a list of hotkeys, tracker commands, etc.
These seem to be similar to protracker, but the fxx command seems to work backwards, sample offset is obviously redundant, & there may be some synth commands I don't know.

Thx.(pun)

Here's Amigaguide docs from original THX release:
http://www.kyymos.com/THXSoundSystem.guide

In original THX version there was also documents under help key, didn't seem to work with AHX release. Hope that Amigaguide will help you.

Last time I checked it still worked.

Now I'm the master of AHX! Thanks guys :-D

Does anyone know why all my AHX's make WinAHX crash? It should do version two THX, but not mine. Is it just because I'm too hardcore or something? Deliplayer/tracker (windows and amiga) does the best job, but not quite!? Hippoplayer screws them all up too.

WinAHX is {bleep}, that's the reason why. I had this happening with MANY mods of mine, and I'm not sure, but I think I could "fix" this doing something with the instruments. I think the {bleep}ty plugin won't accept the module if you've got your instrument 0 empty. Use Deli, why are you using WinAMP anyway?

heard some of your tunes, nice stuff to be found within! Did you see this site?

The guy that runs this label might enjoy releasing some of your stuff (in any format you want, ahx or whatever)

Because WinAHX is buggy. Its player routine is seriously bad.

online help in AHX works only if you have PT.font installed (I did not until I read that I should in the amigaguide). AHX works fine without Microknight.font though, it just uses topaz instead (I prefer this)

I worked out why my AHX's don't work properly on anybodys player prog.

the filter {#0**} only has proper values between #01-#40 {#0*=LP, #1*=BP, #2*=BR, #3*=HP (#40=00)}
Any filter value greater than #40 makes for unpredictable results. This can be a good thing when AHX is used as a live tool, but will sound funny on hippoplayer and make winahx crash.
