I'm having to use a pc atm 'cos I think my PowerFlyer's had it. Can't run the Amiga anyway.
So, I'm having to use the old pc I cobbled together with the help of fellow AOrger, spiranthos (All hail...)
The fact is, almost everything about the pc baffles me!
Why the Hell is everything so bloody complicated?!
All I want to do is update my website. The FTP client I downloaded, while expansive and sophisticated, is so bloody complicated! How I managed to download my site files is anybody's guess.
Anyway, can anyone suggest a free FTP client for the pc which is as sweet to use as AmiTradeCenter?
One with a simple 'upload selected file' button would be good.
Cheers,
JaX

FlashFXP is not free, however extremely good.
If you can live with the 30 second long splash screen, asking you to register, then I guess it is sort of free. :-)
I registered, and it was quite worth it.

Give SmartFTP a look.

WSFTP Lite is a good one. (My Wife uses that to upload her web site.
The interface is pretty close to the same as Directory Opus.
http://www.bolton-heaton.freeserve.co.uk/wsftp.htm might have it? (Didn't have time to verify the download.. just googled it.)

I use WhatsUpFtp (WSFTP), it's just like using an old Amiga program ... more DirWorks2 than DOpus :-D

Ok... DoPus 4 then. ;)

Agreed, Smartftp is great. Has a real Amiga feel to it somehow, I guess because it's so intuitive to use.

Gotta look at that one myself if it has the Amiga feel.
I have been using this simple one with success FTPExplorer (http://www.ftpx.com/)

No there aren't. But there are other clients that are ok and does its job wich is what you're looking for, right?
I too hate those over-worked programs that get you scared when you launch it. It's ok with overworked-programs as long as you have to have a look to find the advanced settings. You don't want it mixed up with the rest of the program!
Anyway, something that will feal ok is available for Windows I'm sure. I think I used CuteFTP or something wich worked ok. It isn't AmiTradeCenter but it is ok and there are more programs like that available.

I used to use WSFTP too
Can't you FTP from MS-DOS?

@Cyberus:
Yeah, you can FTP from DOS.
Type FTP
Type OPEN
Type the name of the site you are FTPing to and voila.. start surfing for files. :)
That used to be the only way for me heh.

Dudes, you can FTP directly from Internet Explorer or Windows (File) Explorer. Just type in your FTP address(ftp://www.yoursite.com) and you're away, then you go to the file menu and select login as.... I think your website entry will then stick around in your IE entries and you can use it like any other folder. I found it a little flakey though, but that may have been just my connection when I used it. I don't know if this works with anything other than 2000 and Xp. I now use a program on windows called FTP Commander which I'm happy with, but if I didn't have it installed I'd go for Explorer.

Yes, IE and Explorer cant use FTP://. Tho it seems to handle it more like network shares then a remote FP site. The context menus are really slow when using IE for FTP. Guess Explorer first tries to get info on the file so it can display the correct context menu.
