Hi Everybody,
I just received a really nice Amiga 500 computer. It is in excellent "minty" condition with new disk drive and keyboard. If interested then just pmail me and make an offer. :-D
-
Doomy - you've posted these in the general forum :smack:
-
Hi Holley,
Doomy - you've posted these in the general forum
Yes, because they are NOT yet on eBay. I am giving all you guys a chance to get them first before I list them on eBay. If someone here wants them then I will not have to list them on eBay. :-D
-
Yes, but they really belong in the ebay forum with a moniker of 'before ebay' or something ;-)
-
Ok, thanks. Now I will know for the next time. :-D
-
Another thing worth noting is that not everyone uses eBay, so it could be fine to be here.
-
@BoingBoss
Could you list the A500 specs other than "minty"....not really that descriptive.
-

I think the point is, that although the forum is called 'Amiga on ebay' it is also the general for sale forum, thus Doomy should have posted there.
-
why not selling it on ebay (or alike) :-?
-
Yeah, for private sales the Ebay forum is quite slack, and a better place than general.
I'd suggest if Doomy (or anyone else) is going to be buying and selling they could put items on their own site and link to it (like Wierdami & Lemmink have done), thus seperating it from AO (which was the point of making the classifieds 'on ebay').
-
Why would you want to buy this low quality cheaply made a500 you should buy yourself an amiga 2000 they are the flagship amiga and of high quality german manafacture.
dont be tempted the a500 is just a cheaply made toy . :-D
-
Thats what he.s always telling us.

Yes, but that was before he was trying to sell one
-
*Hugs his NOS machine he got a bit back from that hoarder* "don't listen to the mean men"
-
I am actually looking for a spare A500.
I would be interested but:
1) you have no picture of what it actually looks like
2) you only take cash or moneyorders
3) you probably want a arm and a leg for it
And from your ebay feedback there have been instances of people sending you money and you claiming not to have got it. I do not like to take risks like that! I guess I can always drive the 150 miles down there but it may not be worth it for a lowly 500. lol
-
Hi amigamad,
Thats what he.s always telling us.
Not true. I have never included the Amiga 500 in the list of low quality Amiga models. That list is the following: Amiga 600, 1200, 4000, and 4000T. As you can see the Amiga 500 is not in the list of low quality Amiga computers.
-
Hi Lando,
Yes, but that was before he was trying to sell one
That's not true either. Afterall, I actually own an Amiga 500 Tower computer. :-D
-
You forgot the CD32 :-D
Anyway, thats your opinion, and you're entitled to that. Some people get rubbed up the wrong way because they like the models you don't, and the way some of your comments have been phrased in the past have come accross as hostile.
Shal we say there are good and bad points to all circuitboards, and leave it at that?
-

What???? 4000, 4000T as low quality? are you shi**in me? Did I read that right? I dont understand what he's typing. what? Is that in english? cause if so, I dont understand. Anyone translate that to Czech for me? Can you put 4000 and low quality in one sentence? Is that proper sentence structure?
:-P :-P :-P
-
His reasoning being because it has a surface mount motherboard.
TBH I can see what he's getting at, compared to earlier big boxes the A4000 was more technically advanced, but physically it wasn't so well finished (thinner metal, cheaper plastic moulding on the front, plastic memory clips etc).
Obviously this doesn't matter to most people, who are more concerned about the machines capabilities, but it does to Doomy.
As for me, I love my A3000 as it is, but if I had an A4000 I'd want to put it in a nicer case (though that'd be plenty enough for me).
-
Its true that the socketed chips in the older machine make them easy to repair but the suface mounted chips are suposed to more reliable its what is called progress but as with all modern stuff its cheaply made, so manafacturers can make more profit/money no modern stuff is reliable as the older stuff quality is rare these days .cars, computers ,hifi and 90% of what is made is today is poor quality crap made of plastic.
I remember when my dads telivsions used to last over 10 years without repair his modern philips had to be repaired under warranty after 2 years of use and just this week the remote control has died not good on this set because it has a known problem with the on off switch wich can even cause fire ,switch was replaced once but philips recomend using the remote to put it into standby rather than use it . :-?
-
In older pin-though amigas if a chip pops outta it's socket you can push it back in. If it has a dry most of the time you can just freshen it up with a quick dab of the soldering iron.
With surface mount, dry joints can be more of a pain (especially when resistors fall off altogether). It's only more reliable in the short term ;-)
-
Guys, are we not getting off topic? What does any of this have to do with me selling my Amiga 500? Are any of you guys interested in buying it? If not, then I will just part it out and sell the parts on eBay.
-
Doomy,
I am interested but it looks like you will want to squeeze as much $$ as you can out of it. And parting it out will do just that. It would be a shame to dissasemble it just to get a few extra bucks out of it. pmail send.
-
Just working on your image, Doomy ;-)
-

A similar Amiga 500 just sold on eBay for $51.00 plus the cost of s/h. 276 people looked at it.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5118058765&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
I am willing to let mine go for just $30.00 plus s/h. The power supply will be sold separately to one of you Amiga 1200 owners for only $15.00 plus s/h.
-
Read the above :-D
-
Above are the specs you guys wanted. :-)
-
if you have the A500 psu, why would you not sell it with the A500 for $30?
-
I would be willing to sell the Amiga 500 with its power supply for only $40.00. This is one of the nicest Amiga 500s that I have seen in a long time. Usually, every time I find an Amiga 500 it is yellowed or scratched and chipped. Or the keys will be broken or dirty and warn out from heavy use. This Amiga 500 is absolutely perfect. If I can not sell it for the price I want, then I will keep it. I already found a very nice PC tower case that I can put it into. :-D
-
I have one that is not yellowed and is perfect in the box it also house all the manuals and mouse and psu plus 4 mb memory expansion and i dont seem to be able to sell it for £35 including postage, still its going to make a good ramp for my 1/8 scale protech nitro buggy. :-)
hope you sell it the a500 is a briliant machine one of my favorites. last week i could of had one for 5 pound from a car boot, at one time i would have bought it . :-)
-
Seems they're not worth much as most collectors already have one and retro gamers are all looking for A1200s.
What kinda memory expansion is it, mad? :-D
-
I will give you $25 with the PS. I know you like to part everyting out and milk it for as much as you can get, but I am not rich, and besides you milked me pretty good on that A600 you sold me, without a mouse and made me pay a $5 eBay fee!!! Sound fair?
-
I will keep this awesome condition Amiga 500 before I let it go for less then $40.00. ALL of the classic Amiga games and demos run on this computer and I know how hard it is to find an Amiga 500 in this greata shape. You guys will find out what I already know- the OCS Amiga computers will become the most highly saught after of all Amigas in the near future because most of the classic Amiga software was produced to run on the OCS chipset. I have been watching the Amiga 2000, 500, and 1000 computers on eBay for the past several months. I have noticed that these machines are starting to sell for more and more money each time. We will see what happens in the future. I fear that as always I will get the last laugh.
-
I'd suggest anyone even considering buying this machine to do a search first (that is if you don't know his rep already). HE IS A THIEF! He just sold a pirated copy of Amiga Workbench to another A.org member.
-
I already have a MINT in box A500 (see my pics) so I really don't need one that bad to pay $40+ for it, especially since I paid $70 for this one that was NEW in box (like the ones Red was selling) I think $25 is a fair price, especially since I have yet to see a picture of it. You will not get any more on eBay without pictures. And if you do put it on eBay please use a real pic and not a "borrowed" pic. ;)
-
Doomy - State of the Art won't work on it ;-)
-

Not in the uk there not only the a1000 has any value and lately they have been selling for even less money .
My a500 has a baseboard 4 meg memory expansion fitted to it.Its by expansion systems a usa company it boots from its own floppy to recognise the memory on the card or the drivers can be copied to a hard drive.
Look at the price of this a500 proves how worthless the can be
a500 not long to go and 1 bid at 0.99p (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3544&item=8128110133&rd=1) :-) :-D

Just a heads up folks. I found out that the Amiga 500 that I am offering for sale is one of the rarer "premier" issues. It has the small, square Commodore logo under the large Amiga logo. The more common Amiga 500 has a much larger emblem under the large Amiga logo. Because this is a rare Premier issue Amiga 500, in like new condition, the price has now been raised to $265.00 plus s/h. You guys sould have bought this rare Amiga 500 when it was only $40.00 plus s/h.
I am probably just going to keep this computer anyway after finding out that it is the rarer version. :-D
-
It would have to be rarer if you owned it all a500,s are common none are worth much a rarer a500 would be a kickstart 1.2 machine not the common 1.3. :-o
Premier issue Amiga 500
your making it up now, just open one of them big things with the lid and chuck it in . :-D
-
woo hooo!! I have a 1.2 A500. I will undercut BoingBoss price and sell it for $20.
-
I have a brand new A500 discovery bundle pack. It still has the C= seal on the box which hasn't been opened, ever. :-P
-
amigamad wrote:

And while you're at it, throw yourself in too Doomy.
-
Doomy,
I own the A500 with the small square logo. The one you say is the premiere rare model. It is NEW complete in the box. So should I sell it for more than $265? I will sell it to you for $765. pmail me. ;)
-
@x56h34
Maybe you should sell your A500 Discovery pack!?? Surely it is worth a lot. Since Doomy appreciates the value of Amiga computers he may be interested? Have him mail you Cash or a MO. :P
-
@TjLaZer:
I doubt he'll ever ship my A2000 if I make him mad. Perhaps I need to drive over to Oregon and beat him up. :-)
-
Panasonic JU-253 Disk Drive (Very High Quality)
You're kidding (rhetorical question, I know he is not)
The Matu-Shita/Panasonic is the brand of Amiga-drives you MUST avoid at all costs (but afaik the where only build into early A2000/500 and some A1000s).
Chinon is the most common and o.k., my A500 even came with a TEAC (sweet), and the C=-made had an Epson inside which was also o.k.
I only had 1 Matushita in a 2nd hand A2000, and the noise it made was far to much to trust it with any disk (and yes the drive was "o.k", thats just the way they "work").
I even remember a certain piece of HW that allowed you to make "backups" of copy-protected disks being advertised as "works with all Amiga-drives except Matushita".

Here is the one on ebay it sold for a massive 10 pound so prices are going down .
