Is it legal to buy these files on ebay?
I spent a lot of money on Cloantos Amiga Forever pack, because I thought that was the only way to purchase these files.
But to day I found this on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=182&item=3696402352&rd=1
Then again I think I supported the Amiga community when I purchased from Cloanto. :-)

Unless he sells you the actual rom chips - then no its illigal.
-
No this is not legal. The rights to the roms are not public domain...
-
"The roms will be e-mailed to you upon receipt of payment by Paypal."
Doesn´t seem to be very legal... :)
I don´t know how e-bay works, but can you report something like this?
-
I sent a email to the seller asking if it was legal to sell it. but he never answered.
Someone should report this.
-
Clearly piracy and will do nothing but hurt legitimate sales. I have reported it to eBay and Cloanto. :pissed:
-
Why have you reported it to Cloanto? Do they own the kickstarts? I thought Kmos owned all that now...
-
Cloanto have balls... KMOS have... err ...a silly name :-)
-
Clearly monopolism and will do nothing but hurt promotion of Amiga. I have reported it to hackers worldwide to bring down Cloantos website. :-D

I reported that auction to ebay within a couple of hours of it's listing (it's so easy to do that, you only need to follow about 2 dozen links, lol).
Would be surprised if they got off their fat backsides and did anything about it though, unless Cloanto send 'em a threatening letter ...
Cloanto don't have a monopily (they only have the water works and park square), it's just that nobody else has licensed Kickstart and Workbench.
