Title: RealTek 8139 installation in MediatorSX?
Post by: lyricalbenjie on August 22, 2004, 10:40:39 PM
I am having problems installing the networkcard in the MediatorSX. I keep getting the message "cannot connect to device mediatorNet" i have read that the spelling makes a lot of difference so i have tried all possibiblities with regards to the spelling (MediatorNET.device, mediatorNET, device ect..) I have the following configuration
Blizzard PPS 603e+ (6840 FPU)
Mediator SX
Realtek 8139 as the only PCI card inserted, i placed it in the 1st slot (the nearsest to the power unit of the mediator)
jumper settings:

8 Mb : closed (BLizzard has 16MB Ram, so i assume this is correct ?)

config : open (blizzard PPC603+)

wait : open

wake up : closed

4xEIDE'99 :
1st port : master: Harddisk slave : CD rom
2nd port : master : cd burner slave : none

Could someone help me out with this one ?
Thanks for your time !

For the 100Mb/s cards (like the RTL8139) you use FastEthernet.device.

What TCP/IP stack are you trying to use?
Does the card show up in PCIINFO?
Does the light come on?

I use Miami 3.0 (registred version) TCP/IP
The lights do switch on (green light)
The card gets detected by pciinfo and a Mediator program called "scanpci", it even mentions the name of the card!

Did you try the FastEthernet.device, you can find it on the MMCD.
