I came across this on eBay. Does anyone know exactly what it's for? I've never seen this before.

Some banks used them for a sort of online banking type thing with special software. It was a neat system. I'll look for some more information.

What the heck kind of port is that 'aux' port, anyway? :-?
-
Looks like a MAC style serial port.
Just a wild guess.

Looks like a modem port for a CD32 to me, any of you guys remember the connector on the 1680 AmigaModem :-)
-
it's a remote control modem used (as said) for
online banking, in canada.
It had cd32 software GUI and the cdtv remote
worked on it I believe.

Not so much for online banking. Those were used for ATM's I heard. (I actually got about 7 of those donated to me from a bank in Vancouver BC a few years back... still have one heh.. just no power supply.. arg.)

Intersting... maybe the CD32 did the graphics. I still Cant find any reference to it on the web ..

@Akiko
I have 2 of these Devices with the Remote (essential) It allows you to basically use your CD32 with a remote, for instance you can use it in the CD Player and select music with it and you can also use it with SCALA to turn pages.
Basically this is to the CD32 what the CDTV remote is to the CDTV, except it does not have Joypad. That said, it was originally inteded for onlin banking for customers,and it came with a CD with software on it for Banking........so yes the gfx were done on the CD32. Also the remote allowed employees from the bank to listen to CD's and change the track with the remote. So if you want a remote for your CD32,this is it., except I noticed in the auction that the remote is missing. Some have said that the CDTV remote will work, but I have personally tested it, and it DOES NOT. The thing was that the remote that came with this usit was a design similar to a CDTV prototype remote, so it may work with that Prototype remote from the CDTV or CDTV II, not sure which one it was. Also this device has a Passthrough for the keyboard and a phone jack for the phoneline because it has a mode inside (Probably really slow)
The other thing is the Communicator, which allows MIDI and Serial control from other Amigas amongst other things.
