plugged into my RGB port..lets me hook up a PC monitor to it, works good but has no markings as to what brand it is? I dont know what all it does other then enabling the PC monitor hookup...

It's a DCE Scando-FF. They 're also sold as external Power Computing Scandoubler. You could also use FlickerFixer modes.

hehe.. I did the same cpu fan mod to mine..it does get VERY hot.

Its looking like I secured another A1200 at last. Does anyone know of a place to get one of them here in the US for a fair price? If not the DCE one then any brand that does the same function.

Only external I ever see new in the US is the Software Hut ToastScan. Cost an arm and a leg, but then again they all do.

Yeah thats also the only one I have ever seen. I dont want to pay that much for it. I guess I can look for a used one on ebay or something.

Why are scandoublers so expensive? My dad has one for his projection TV and it cost him $500 -- not to mention that it's a little toaster.

The memory of the scandoublers has to be very fast to copy the image in its memory and doubles the frequenties from 15 Hz to 31 Hz.
That's the reason that the sandoublers are expensive.
