Greetings to everyone from North Central Texas!
I have recently excavated my old A1200 out of its hiding place in the back of a closet, and scared the daylights out of it by transplanting it into a Power Tower with the ZIV Expansion, a Catweasel ZII S-Class card, and a Blizzard 1260; all of which I purchased second hand from a friend who used run a local Amiga BBS. I had forgotten just how much I loved that 'ole A1200, and now it runs better than ever. :) Anyhow, I look forward to gleaning back some of my lost Amiga knowledge here, and look forward to some good Amiga conversations. The Amiga was my first true computer passion, and I'm glad to see it live again.

G'day from DownUnder :)

Thanks!
May your favorite beverage be cold and satisfying :)

Welcome :-)
Sounds like a nice rejuvination of the old A1200 there :-)
No doubt after a time you'll want another. It's unavoidable :-D
-
Thanks!
Actually I *do* have another A1200, but it is at best mostly dead. It's going to be fun to see just how far I can juice up this one though. I must admit, I'm a little surprised just how much is still out there for a platform that has had such a rocky road. That Amiga, she's a tough old gal! :)

Welcome B :)
I've recently come back to it too, it's sorta funny how it pulls you back heheh.
Sounds like a nice machine there, I'm lookin for an A1200 to soup up some too.

Another warm welcome from downunder :-D :pint:

@adz
Here is a better version of the program in your signature:
1 PRINT "COMMODORE ROCKS"SPC(26);:GOTO 1
:-D

Welcome from the other side of the pond! ;-) :-)

Nice A1200! I just secured another 1200 myself to use for retro gamming and know the feeling. You should check out the Mediator board to replace the one you have now. It will let you add a cheap Voodoo 3, 10/100 Ethernet and a Sound Blaster card. Great stuff!
-
Welcome to the party.
Now if you can get your hands on a BlizzardPPC card....ahhh...that would be nice!
-
Thanks all!
@ Acill: A Mediator is definitely on my list of things to add. I've got to let the piggy bank recover a little first though. :)
@ Argus: Yep, a PPC card would be most excellent!

Greetings from up North :-P
is your A1200 NTSC? I had one years ago that was NTSC, and everybody tells me what a rarity it was... :-?
Anyhow, welcome. Don't let trolls get you down. :-D
-
Hi!
Yep, it's NTSC. If they are really that rare, I must have been fortunate.. I've had 3 of them :) Sadly, this is the last one still alive, but it's going strong. I also have an elderly A500 that works when it feels like it, which is not terribly often. :)

@drHirudo
:lol:
True, but my sig is more reminiscent of what I used to punch into the C64's at K-mart when I was about 8 years old :-D

@B_Scotty
Oh, I hope you didn't chuck the old 1200s. Sometime a close inspection with a magnifying glass reveals a broken trace on the 1200 mainboard (these are repairable even at home if you are patient). A tired old Amiga is also like any older athlete (a good rub down with isopropyl can do wonders to clean contacts and invigorate her).

Nope, I didn't get rid of them. I figured if nothing eles I can harvest them for spare parts. Thanks for the tip on the traces though, I hadn't thought of that.

Hello B_Scotty,
I am somewhat in the same boat as you just getting back to using Amiga computers. I have always kept an eye on what has been happening (mostly with the help of Amiga.org) in the world of Amiga, but have not been using mine for a few years now. I can't remember exactly why, but I bought a brand new A1200 about 2 years ago and have not taken it out of the box yet. I guess it was to fill in a gap in my collection. There are only a few Amiga models that I don't have in my collection of 12 Amigas.

Amigadave,
I also have almost all of them. All I am missing is the 3000T and 4000T, 500+ and 1500, but the last two were not avail in the USA and I own the base models anyhow.

Hi B_Scotty,
Welcome to Amiga Org. :-D

@TjLaZer
I have always wanted the A3000T just for historical reasons. Since I have towered both my A4000D's, the A4000T has less appeal to me. I think I am going to pass on the A600 unless one is given to me.
There is a video guy that has, or had a shop not far from my city that supposedly has an Opal Vision card with the never released for production "Roaster" chip. I would love to see what it can do, or better yet, pry it from his grasp with the right monetary persuasion. From what I can remember, it was better than the Video Toaster in many ways. At least that is what the vaporware advertisement claimed.
