Title: Amithlon <--> XP sharing INTERNET connection?
Post by: AMIGA-FAN on August 18, 2004, 03:14:03 PM
Hi everybody, I have the following question: at home I have two PCs, both have Windows XP installed and one is also being used to run Amithlon as well. They are connected each other via a LAN network card, which works OK when both machines run Windows XP. What I would like to do is to share the internet connection of the machine that primarily runs XP on the other machine running Amithlon. In other words, when an internet connection is available on the machine running XP I would like to be able to connect to the internet on Amithlon too (or the other way aroudn actually) using the same TCP/IP connection by first connecting to the PC through Miami (or GENESIS) via LAN. I know that I would have to setup something like a TCP/IP server on the PC side and as far as I know that kind of service it is available with XP Pro (which I have) but I do not know what (and how) I would have to do on the Amithlon side in order to instruct my (emulated) Amiga to use that TCP/IP server for connections.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this helps you, but it may give you an idea.

I run to PC's that are connected via LAN/file sharing, WinXP->Win98.My internet connection is LAN cable.

Both machines are connected to a USL Router, which lets them share access to the internet equally. The router assigns them the same address.

I have WINUAE installed on the Win98 machine, and can access the XP machine, as well as surf the net using AWeb from within the emualtion. OrI can access a real Amiga via serial with AmigaExplorerer,
