Hi, was wondering if anyone is willing to sell (second-hand) his MiamiDeluxe keyfile and licence (as long as legally owned) perhaps because no longer using it, and at a reasonale price. As purchasing this product is no longer possible (and it's not supported anymore), would be happy to hear of someone who wants to give it away.

Couldn't one of you skilled coders port the uIP-stack (http://www.sics.se/~adam/uip/) to the older AmigaOS-es. I don't know C, so I can't. :\

whats the difference between Miami and Miami DX?

Among other things, tt can handle more interfaces at the same time,
i.e. a modem connection and a further connection through a network
interface card, such as a LAN card.

You could always take a look at AmiTCP 3.0b2 (http://www.funet.fi/pub/amiga/gnu/tcpip/) which is distributed under GPL (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html) licensing if you need a TCP/IP stack.

I have both AmiTCP (can't remember which version) and Miami 3.2b. What
I need is the dialer like MiamiDX (I have Miami DX Demo version only)
in order to be able to go online on both modem interface and LAN
inetrface. Miami 3.2b only allows one interface card active at any one
time.

AmiTCP can handle several interfaces and route between them etc. It cant do NAT from one of the interfaces to the other if thats what you need though.

Yeah but what proggy shall I use in place of MiamiDX in order to get connected using AmiTCP TCP/IP stack? MiamiDX in demo version only runs for 30 minutes, so need an alternative to MiamiDX not a substitute for the TCP/IP stack itself. In other words it's the dialer interface that I need.

Whatever happened to Holger Kruse anyway? Miami is/was? an excellent product, I registered v3.2 maybe five years ago and still use it every day. My brother recently tried to get a replacement keyfile for his own registered version but emails to the Global site keep bouncing back. I personally am planning on going broadband shortly and would pay for MiamiDX to create a miniLAN of Amis at home.

Can someone explain to me what Miami does better than say Genesis or AmiTCP to a normal user?? I know it's easy to get up and running but Genesis wasn't that difficult either.
In my experiences with them both (well I never tried MiamiDX actually) Genesis is muuuch faster than Miami.

@AMIGA-FAN: For dialing your modem you could use AmiPPP2,
a shareware proggy from Aminet. I used it many years before
I got LAN.

From what I remember, Miami(Dx) can do automatic connection setup via DHCP. Genesis and AmiTCP don't have that, unless it's been added to them the last time I looked. (The Roadshow TCP/IP stack in AmigaOS4 can do DHCP as well.)

One of the features that i like with miami over Genesis is that if your machine crashes you do not have to dial-up again ie it keeps the connection even after a soft reset

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that with Miami. It's a very good feature for dialup users.

Really? I doubt it will but 'll try that..... I never experienced a crash during a connection (apart when using Voyager...) but in case it does keep the connection alive I guess it's just enough to relaunch the browser without activating MIAMI again? Or it will have to be started all over again anyway? When your machine is back up, it doesn't have the AmiTCP stack running so how could keep the connection alive? Pleae explain.

If your machine crashes your modem is still online. Miami places a kicktag so that when you reboot, it reconnects to the modem without resetting the net connection. It does work. It never worked for me because I took too long to reboot, and the modem would time out just before Miami loaded...

I don't know if the "regular" version of Miami has it, but Miami Deluxe also has the option to save the connection information to a file instead of the KickTag method. It is meant for if you have a really bad crash, and the KickTag gets blown away. When I used to use dial-up, I had it set up to use the file method. It worked great every time I needed it.

That's precisely the only way I thought it would have worked, actually. I just needed a confirmation. My Amithlon setup is pretty fast at rebooting, so perhaps the modem will not time out before I have Miami relaunched. But will chek that simulating a crash (a simple soft-reboot) and see if that works for me.
