Hi,
Does anyone know if its possible to set up a null modem/serial connection between a PC (using XP Pro) and Amiga (3.9), to share the PC's internet connection?
Since my (desktop) A1200 doesn't have ethernet capability, I've had to use my PC ever since I got broadband installed. I'd like to get the Amiga back online, but I can't afford to give it a network card, and to be honest I don't really want to waste any ports on installing one.
I've got a few cables lying around, including a null modem cable with the necessary adapters. I also have a fast serial port in the amiga. I'd like to utilise this setup rather than get any new equipment.
I understand speed would be limited, but I'm not that bothered.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
David

I used Pc2Amiga a while back, between my laptop and A1200 for the same kind of thing. Worked great.
Its on Aminet, do a search for Pc2Amiga or Pc2Ami etc.

I have my a1200 connected to xp pc sharing internet and works great all you need is nullmodem cable,ON AMIGA miami 32b(i think other versions work but i always had this)and artser.device ,ON THE PC proxy server (i use proxy from analogX its free but very good) the only limitation is that miami work for 1 hour since its demo and you have to dial the connection again but it does not expire if you need help to setup the connection on both sides let me know

IIRC, PC2Amiga is for file sharing.
To share the internet connection, you'd have to setup the WinXP box as a RAS server and have the amiga "dial-in" via serial. I've never tried this, but it should be possible.

I did it with my A1200, with a hypercom, u can get much higher than normal dial up if ur shring the broadband connection.
If u use miami(which i did) , its not to diffcult, im sure there is a readme file with miami that tell u how to do it
it was years ago , and i cant rember how to do it sorry and it was wiht win2kpro, but should eb the same for xp

Doh! I didn't read the original post closely enough, I guess I was pre-empting the question (as it comes up so often) - ignore my rambings about Pc2Amiga, lol.
