I've been trying on and off for 2 hours to try and get connected to #amiga.org on IRC, and having no luck at all.
I've tried Trillian and mIRC (yes I'm using a PC - it's not through choice) and both come back with the same reply:
*** Couldn't resolve hostname
This happens on arena.webchat.org and irc.webchat.org. I even tried NeoFree's website (http://amiga.hostingmountain.com (http://amiga.hostingmountain.com)) to get connected and got basically the same result.
It's not that I can't connect to #amiga.org, the problem is getting connected to any IRC client.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

Then probably the webchat irc network is down.

Thought it might be, they've screwed up many times before. But I was speaking on ICQ and they had the same problem with IRC. I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had a reason/explanation for the problem.
Anyway goodnite :-D.
Nite mate :-D

You can use the i.p.'s listed in the Information link listed under Extra Stuff on the left-hand side.
Or you can try irc.webmaster.com port 7000.
:-P

DNS problems it would seem...
type this in your prog. to connect:
/server 216.152.64.142
-
Connection failed. Error: Connection refused
Ahh well... Might as well get on with some work instead.
(webchat sux)

Sometimes the IRC servers I go on can't be resolved. I then always change the port to connect to. 6666, 6667, 6668, 7777 etc.. Usually works, but not always.

Cheers guys, IRC is working now so I haven't had to try any of your suggestions, but I've got a note of them for when it happens again. :-D

Cool, I've got 52 posts before I'm a technoid :-(
