Title: DCE ScanMagic Internal
Post by: fx on August 12, 2004, 05:37:54 PM
Hi everyone!

I bought an Amiga 1200 a while ago which had a DCE ScanMagic Internal (http://amiga.resource.cx/photos/photo.pl?id=scanmagicint) Scan Doubler installed. I started the A1200 up and it worked fine, but then I took it apart because I really wanted to use the Scan Doubler in my A4000.

I installed it and switched my A4000 on but got no picture, darn. After fiddling around with it a little with no luck I decided to try it in the A1200 again, but got no picture there either, so obviously I broke something :(. Now my question to you guys is this, does anyone own one of these? I would really want some high quality photos of the circuit board of that ugly external thingy you put in the RGB port, because I'm suspecting that is what's is broken. It is extremely manhandled with defective solders, broken traces and loose connectors.

I can get you good pictures of the main internal board, but I have the one that covers two chips, not the internal/external RGB model.

Let me know.

HI
I have no digicam so cannot help you there but I can offer you some of my experience with this bit of kit. I took mine apart when disassembling my 1200 and put it together again the wrong way. I got no picture. I think what I did was just connect one row of the pins rather than all 8. I'm taking a stab in the dark that maybe this is what has happened to yours. Once I connected everything properly the thing worked and is working fine and dandy ;>)

Hi!!! i also have the same device, but NEVER ever had the chance of using it, becasue it came with no manual and unsoledered. I had to solder but not sure if i did it the right way. If any of you guys could provide me a copy of the manual and some pictures to see the actual device, i will be more than happy!!

Cheers!
Sebastian
