Post by: that_punk_guy on August 10, 2004, 06:19:07 PM
I think I'm going to learn to knit.

Does anyone else here knit?

Yep, but I haven't done it since I was really young sitting with my grandmother on the porch in her rocking chair. I wouldn't know how to do anything other than the stitching, and I couldn't even make a blanket nowdays as I don't know how to finish the edges.

Not that I'd ever find myself ever knitting again anyways...  :-P

Heh heh...

Cool. Wait, was that porch/rocking-chair part romantic embellishment? (Did she have a shotgun too?) ;-)

It's supposed to be relaxing once you know what you're doing. I guess it'll be frustrating until then. But I'm itching to make random crap for some reason, and I really enjoy making people uncomfortable with the gender identity issues. :-)

I never learned to cast on, nor cast off. That is why my one only ever knitting project is a scarf that is still on the needles somewhere in a box. A really looooooooooong scarf, of many colours, and constantly varying width.

When I was 14 I was the fastest knitter (or knittist?) on the block. Yep, nobody could beat me, I was that quick. Only trouble was, if I was knitting a scarf, the final result was usually triangular and not even Dr Seuss would let one of his cats wear it

These days, of course, I'm far too macho to knit.

i have done some knitting and can crochet.
the trick is to keep the string loose. but not too loose.

it's not hard.

I had a go when I was a kid, and didn't get on with it at all.

Funnily enough, my mum used to look after a guy who served in the Paras in WWII, and he was meant to be {bleep}hot at knitting   - he told my mum that a lot of the guys used to do it, to pass the time

My Missus is a right Knit !!

Edit chick rattles em off as though she is a machine !!

The Cardigan she's wearing in our photo on your site TPG is one she made herself.  She has also made a few full length knitted dresses.

Atm she is making baby cardigans for my brothers expectant wife.
