Title: Tell me about Laurent series...
Post by: elendil on August 10, 2004, 03:35:05 PM
Hi. I need to know about Laurent series amongst other things. I've read a bunch about it, but I need a good example, so I'll ask you to find the laurent series of

cos z / z^4

and explain what you're doing a long the way. Presume you're dealing with a mathematical fool, if you please :)

I've picked this function as I already have an example of it as a pdf, but it's a bad, bad scan of bad, bad handwriting, so I can't make out most of it :/

Sincerely,

-Kenneth Straarup.

(Crossposting from amigaworld.net where no-one wanted to help me (apart from Jerry) :)).

Hum,
from what i remember it`s about converging values (area i think) on some sort of 3d topological shape...i have no idea what it is used for, er, apart from guessing a figure for the area on a swimming-ring ...

Have you done a search on google?

I have a nice several thousand page book that covers it, yes :) I'd just really like a step-by-step example of the above to really understand it.

It's like programming. You can read so much about a programming language, but an included example does heaps in regards to understanding what you've read.

Sincerely,
