and
New 10 pack DS/DD 5.25 floppy disks (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=74945&item=8123433770&tc=photo) - $5.25
Getting harder to find nowadays, but we have them. Combined shipping is available, of course:-)
-
That's too expensive for bulk diskettes. You can still find Imation branded in retail box for cheaper.
-
Go for it.
-
Or people could just go directly to Athana like you did. Sure, the bulk pricing is needed, but there are other cheaper places with no quantity limits.
Point is, your disks are overpriced, and not rare at all.
-
but there are other cheaper places with no quantity limits.
But hasn't that basically always been the case with Amiga vendors? I mean, back in the day, most any place that carried Amigas also sold blank disks... But at a markup of 2-5x over the normal going rate for them from a trade show or discount specialist.
So some people might pay a little more for the convenience of purchasing some disks with their next order from Redrumloa. The rest will seek out the lower prices elsewhere. I don't think it's really anything to get upset about. (shrug)
-
Just because it's common practice doesn't mean it's acceptable. :-( I'm not upset, I just commented that his prices are too high (completely my opinion).
For example, 50 pack bulk 3.5" DS/DD $12.95

Is there any need to buy DD disks at all?
Why can't we all just cover up the tab of a normal HD disk and format that?
They are much cheaper, I bet.
-

Unacceptable? Christ on a bike!
If you think I am price gouging, there must obviously be an uptapped market out there for you to exploit! Go for it! Underprice us and make great wealth! Become the savoir of the Amiga market!
- Rest
This is our first blank media offered. If the price is too high the market will react.
-
Is there any need to buy DD disks at all?
It's unreliable over time.
-
OK lets look at both angles the same place that is selling the 3.5" cheaper is charging 9.95 for 10 5 1/4 diskettes..
Lets put the issue to rest...
http://www.xdr2.com/Media/Diskettes/5.asp
I'm willing to pay a little more knowing where the money is going......

:sigh: This is the market reacting. Only the marketer isn't paying attention.

Yes, which is why I used the 3.5 as an example. I can dig up a 5.25" price too from other vendors.
Do you buy everything at one store? Probably not. I look at price as well as selection and make my purchase decission based on that. The internet makes it very easy shop around.
If you're willing to pay almost TWICE as much "knowing where the money is going" then you're just a sucker.
-

I'm paying attention, I'm reacting to accusations I'm price gouging.
BTW 10 floppies + shipping is $7.67 total cost from us. Find somewhere selling 10 floppies shipped at a total cost far less than that. You may very well find somewhere cheaper, but it won't be substanially cheaper. I'd bet after shipping costs are calculated it would be even more expensive/
-
While I also think its a bit high (I've been getting DD for much less for years) I think he can charge what he wants. There isnt a magic link here that grabs your credit card info and charges you for looking at his offer.
-
My opinion is this:
If a shop or someone is selling something, and you can get it cheaper elsewhere, then go elsewhere! This is the beauty of this capitalist world
But why complain about prices? Nobody has to buy under duress...
edit:Acill beat me to it.
-
Lets not make this a personal pissin match....
Viewpoints have been stated now it's time to move on.
In the Immortal words of someone from the past "Can't we all getalong?????
-
While I also think its a bit hight 9I've been getting DD for much less for years)
What do you recomend for 10? Keeping in mind it'll be a low volume item. I'd lower it if I tought it would actually increase volume. $4 per 10? $3 per 10 :-?
-
Here are the prices as listed at floppydisks.com
500 disks:
$0.24 ea.
1,000 disks:
$0.19 ea.
5,000 disks:
$0.17 ea.
10,000 disks:
$0.15 ea.
Formatted disks
add $0.02 ea.
Not bad if you want that many at once.
there are other places too that offer free shipping I found, so I think your price is a bit steep. That still doesnt mean people MUST buy from him. You can all show like I just did, but thats where I got all of mine in the past. now I dont use them at all.
-
@Acill
Do you need 500 disks?
I rest my case:-D
-
I didnt say to get 500, I just said its not bad if you want that many. I also said you can go to other places. I dont want to get into a fight here. I know you can get them with free shipping from tigerdirect.com for $8.25 for a box of 25. thats still better.
Thats the end of any reply from me. I was defending you for the most part. Good luck on your venture.

Sigh, I wasn't attacking you.. I was asking your opinion what you thought a fair price for 10 was.

No where did I say you were price gouging. I said you were overpriced.

Personally I can't believe you are having to go through this debate. You listed an item and the price you're selling the item at. Come on! Get off his back guys! If someone is happy paying a certain amount for an item then let them buy it. I know this is a forum and it's purpose is to talk about things, but I don't think redrumloa is being rediculous here. I've sold things on eBay for MUCH more than I personally think they are worth, but I'm not going to stop someone from buying them from me for that amount. He's not a charity... if the price really is too high then no one will buy any and that's his problem to deal with! :-?
