Why is this in the Amiga Hardware forum?
-
@FastRobPlus
I have no idea.........where else can I put it?
Ive been here in Amiga.org for a long time and still havent figured out everything. Like what the heck happened to the Advert section where people sell their items and post them up here?
-
You have to be a nut job to know where stuff goes I guess. Like if you want to sell or give someting to someone, you post in the eBay forum. LOL
-
@leirbag
You obviously don't know Nintendo. They sold their soul for money years ago. Their marketing practices and price fixing have violated law for years.
-
@adolescent
I agree.
Back in the eighties Nintendo was considered the bad guys with their extreme licence fees they took from developers which made the game prices extremely high. And then Sony were the bad guys when they came in and bought the video game market. Now Microsoft gets in and try to do the same thing and suddenly all the other companies are God's best children only interested in making good games and pleasing the customers while Microsoft are trying to screw us all.
They're all in the business of making as much money as possible. It's capitalism. I think hating Microsoft is getting boring and predictable. But that's probably just me. :lol:
-
It was a strategical decision, I guess. Motto: If you can't beat them, buy them. M$ tries to find a dominant place in the market for the Xbox before Sonys PS3 comes out. Most of all the M$ Management tried to benefit from the video gaming experience of Nintendo.
As for the "bad guys" at M$: I think it is far too romantic dividing the world into good and evil or black and white. These people just do their job like all other capitalists do. It's predictable: business=business=business... sad but true.

Maybe you could have put it under Coffee House - General or Entertainment? I dunno... just an idea. Either way... I wouldn't have minded if Microsoft had purchased them. They seem to be running a pretty good show with the X-Box. I have a PS2, but I am seriously considering the X-Box as well. I've never considered the purchase of a Gamecube though
-
@adolescent
Maybe I chose the wrong words by saying Sold their soul. I really don't think Nintendo are the Bad Guys or were. It is indeed ok to chrge software companies for making games on the NES or SNES..........I think it assures quality games...which Nintendo had the best of.
As Far as Microsoft...I am 100% against them and as far as it depends on me, I will never purchase anything from them not even if they released an X-BOX that can Time Travel.
@ent0mbed
I think you should wait for the PS3 then, It will be bacckwards compatible with PSOne and PS2......Wow! X-Box 2 will not be backwards compatible.
Do not give your money to Microsoft, as they will take out anyone in their way...including Amiga, like they did with Corel and Blue Ribbon software.

Blue Ribbon was in MS' way? How? Were they about to release a competitor to Microsoft Bob? I seem to remember Blue Ribbon was looking for a buyer for fiancial reasons, and they found MS. I also seem to remember MS released some of Blue Ribbon's stuff to Amiga users free of charge.
Sorry you hate Nintendo and Xbox, but I still think that's a discussion for another area of this site, or another site alltogether.
-
there are a few constants in life and one of them is that Bill Gates is the devil.
:pissed:
-
@FastRobPlus
Blue Ribbon was not in Microsofts way...I didn't say that. But suspiciously IIRC, COREL was about to have some deal made with Amiga inc. Mysteriously, Microsoft made an offer COREL couldn't refuse.......they could have said NO! like NINTENDO.
I do not think Bill Gates is the Devil, but I do not like Microsoft's practices and nor do I like the people who easily bow down to them when it comes to a matter of money if Microsofts intention is to wipe out competition as I believe is what they secretly or openly are trying to do with NINTENDO.
And I don't hate Nintendo. Now as far as you thinking that this discussion is for another area of this site............would you care to move it for me? as I have no idea how to do that. The discussion is already here. Maybe the Moderators can move it .........I don't know.

@leirbag
Nintendo is as bad as Sony is as bad as Microsoft if you look at them for their business practices. They all do whatever they can to make money. None of these companies have a halo (well, MS does... :-)), but then again none of them are as evil as you say.
If you're so anti-MS then why watch and post news about the company. Seems like you may be a little obsessed.
And, are you honestly saying you don't have any MS products? Don't tell me you just use an Amiga. :-D
-
What you fail to realize is that while they all make use of the same business practices, only Microsoft is intent on spewing out crap product after crap product :)
I'm very much against Microsoft because of their power and dominance, but I think it would be exactly the same if Nintendo or Sony had that kind of money. Well, except then we'd see dominant GOOD soft- and hardware :o)
Sincerely,
-Kenneth Straarup.

Commodore wasn't very kosher back then either...

@elendil
I agree with you.
@adolescent
Yes I do have Micosft Windows XP, but I did not pay for this...............believe it or not I found this Pentium 4 in the trash. I make every effort time permitting to use Mozilla, instead of Explorer........and working on getting Linux on this..............also I use it as a backup for my Amiga, since I have a complete copy of My Amiga HD in this PC using WinUAE.
You cant criticise an OS you know nothing about right? I use it and know it's flaws, and still believe even Workbench 3.1 is better than Windows XP anyday. Minus the eye candy and upgrades, WB 3.1 is just simply better running on an Amiga. I have 3 Amiga on my desk and one PC..........running WinUAE. Every PC I have ever owned I found in the Garbage and picked it up.............I don't pay Microsoftees my money if at all possible. I plan to buy a laptop one day..don't know what i'll do then, but hopefully it will come with Linux
