Is it possible to use 64Mb SIMM in MKII?
(I think 32Mb is the limit, just need to be sure..)
How about using EDO, does it work in MKII or MKI?
-
You probably can use 64MB SIMMS, but they are recognised as 16MB each at max.
EDO or FP does not matter. The EDO feature is just ignored.
Bye,
Thomas

Yes you can have up to 128MB RAM, 4 X 32MB SIMMs. You can mix and match.
-
I'm disappointed that the CSMkII can only use 128mb. Is the MkIII also limited to 128mb?
I almost bought some 64mb simms for my Cyberstorm, but then got cold feet because I would have to cut the drive chassis to accommodate the over-wide single-sided simms.
Just as well I didn't do it.

Yes.

@X-ray
Why are you disappointed in that? 128MB of RAM is a lot of memory for a classic Amiga... Atleast in my eyes... :)
-
@ Orjan: Yes, I know I should be satisfied with 128 + 18, but it can get eaten up by graphics work, particularly animations. I frequently ran out of memory in Cinema 4D because I had objects with many subdivisions that were animated. That render of the bee brooch that I did (in the Images section) took up most of that 128mb.

Get a Zorro III memory card? DKB3128, for example? Not too easy, but when you do get it, you´re gonna love it... :)
-
Man, I would kill for a DKB 3128 :-o
-
I had one recently, but I sold it since I didn´t really need it... I actually never needed it, but I thought it was cool... :)
-
How much did you sell it for, so I can cry myself to sleep tonight?
-
Around 70€... Thats almost the same as $70... With 128MB RAM... I don´t want to trade internationally, but if I had, I guess I could have got a lot more for it... :)
-
I would have given you £80 for that. Boo hooo!!
-
Sorry about that... :)
-
I paid $450 for my CS MKII in 2002. :(

I think they're talking about just a Z3 RAM card for that price. If someone's selling CyberStorms for under $100, sign me up for one, too. ;-)
-
Yep, these boards are pricey.
I paid £650 for my Cyberstorm in 1996!!!!!
-
DKB 3128 look...

I have one, they are nice. I have 272MB Fast RAM in my 4000. (128MB on 4060, 128MB on 3128 and 16MB on MB)
-
Thanks, TjLaZer
I placed a bid :-)
-
Fudge!
Maybe I should have sold it internationally anyways... :)
-
@ Orjan..
I think you should have, mate. That DKB 3128 is going to get between $300 and $350 I reckon.
Here's a question: I know that having fast memory like 60 ns on the Cyberstorm is worth it, but will I get performance increase if I run a DKB with 60ns SIMMS instead of say 80 or 70ns through a Zorro 3 slot?
-
And there's even something for Doomy there...

:-D

I've heard that some doublesided SIMMs take up two slots, is it true? If yes, how can I know without testing?
-
@x-ray
You are going to crap if you find out how much I paid for mine! I got mine on eBay about 2 years ago for a Buy-It Now of $25. :)
Good luck.

TjLaZer:
I crapped, and I hate you!
